High ankle sprain
How long does it take to recover from a high ankle sprain? It's been over a week and it still hurts and keeps me from doing my cardio. Are there any kind of cardio exercises I can do that don't involve using my ankle? All I can do now is lift weights.

You could try doing some swimming for cardio, very effective, and easy on the joints.

Guess I didn't think of that, just doesn't feel like I'm exercising enough when I do that. Thanks!

Just an fyi that 6 weeks later, my ankle still hurts like hell if I even slightly bend it the wrong way and I have not been able to swim or do anything for my cardio besides fast paced walking so my progress has turned into a major setback. I've done a lot more lifting than ever because of it, but, you know. Anyways, guess I have to start all over again

How did you sprain it in the first place?
That seems to be a common injury in sports and most times you hear about it the players are out 4-6 weeks. But they also get really good treatment and therapy.

high ankle sprains are pain in the ass...
when i played football, our trainer used to give the ankle injury people crutches for a full week w. icing 20 on 20 off.....
it hasnt been healing because we walk around on it all day, and it never gets enough time to heal.
make sure you continue your icing, elevate when possible...but theres not much more you can do now

Yeah, I didn't do the proper treatment for long enough afterward, for sure. I sprained it jumping out of my Jeep (it has a lift) and landed on my ankle because of some slippery rocks instead of my foot. Wish it would've been sports related....

Yeah, I iced it the first 2 days and that was it. I had a busy weekend and tried to just keep walking it off (stupid idea btw and it didn't work). Every day I kept thinking it would feel better the next so by the time I realized it wasn't going to, I'd done even more injury to it, oh well. Thanks for the advice guys!
