Dumb Question:
This may seem like a dumb question but it's been bugging me for a while.
What do you do if your schedule has to change?
For instance, if we have to start our day much earlier. It obviously changes our normal schedule. Every meal time is much earlier in the day.
But what happens if you have to stay up just as late as you normally would?
Meaning if you normally put in a sixteen hour day and you find yourself up for eighteen hours instead, do we need more calories?
I find it hard not to have another 100 calorie protein snack, is this normal?

Definitely not a stupid question.
I would say if you hungry then eat. You energy to burn through the day and if your calories can't sustain you now then you need to up them.

This usually happens to me on weekends. On a normal day, I go to bed around 10 or 11. But when I'm out on a Friday or Saturday night, it could easily become an 18 to 20 hour day. I'll usually have half a protein shake at some point in the night. That'll keep me going till bedtime.

I do this because I can. I can because I want to. I want to because you said I couldn't.

For me, I may stay up later on Friday, and Sunday might be a shorter day for me. So, to balance it out I may eat a little bit more on Friday and a little bit less on Sunday.

I am a bartender, and those days I come home at 3 a.m., I definitely eat before I go to bed. My schedule is completely different from most people: I usually do not get up before 10 a.m., (most times, at noon) and go to bed around 4 a.m.
Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
I am allergic to stupidity and laziness.

Thanks everyone.
I often wondered if being up just a couple more hours a day, made much of a difference as far as calories burned. I can see from everyones response to at least consume protein to get thru a long day.

When I got my BMR measured, I was told that I burned approximately 350 calories a day by simply living (not including exercise). (So, basically my maintenance is 350 above my actual metabolism.) I am small, so that might be less than most people. But if you figure that 350 calories for me is equivalent to 16 waking hours, then 2 additional hours would only be equivalent to about 44 additional calories. Not really that much.

I'll have something else to eat. If I didn't one of 3 things will happen 1. I can't fall asleep 2. I'll wake up in the middle of the night and have to eat or 3. I'll be so hungry in the morning I eat more at breakfast (and I'm cranky and my husband doesn't like that .

Totally what happens to me.
Can't fall asleep, and wake up in the night with my stomach growling.
