My school provided it. It was like a meat patty(mystery meat), rice, banana, water/tea/Gatorade, and a piece or two of bread. Beast school meal EVER.

Me and the rest of my team usually eat bananas and granola bars in the locker room. And some drink energy drinks, some powerade/gatorade, and some water.

Ideally you want to take in a **** load of low GI carbs in the morning, and stay away from sugar and high gi's 3-4 hours before your game.

    porridge that morning

some low gi carbs with lunch

med-protein and carb, low fat snack pregame- i find a 30/30/10 premix does the job for me- different game though.

Wow, wish my school would of provided us with team meals. The only thing we got was a samich put together from our parents for the trip home on away games.

I usually ate some kind of carb/protein mix the night before. For example some nights id have like chicken alfrado or something of the such. Never wanted to stuff myself before a game.

x2 on most of what everyone has already said... omit the caffeine though. It will cause you to burn more calories than you need. energy, that you will need later on in the game.

Generally, pastas, chicken, about 4 hours before the kickoff. No soda...just water or Gatorade.

If it's a morning game I recommend high carbs (again pastas and things like that) and in the morning omelet with spinach, some light cheese, maybe a strip of two of bacon or sausage but that's it. Milk but mostly water.

Some carb... lot of protein , fat and water. Car gives the instant energy, and the protein and fat help to prolong for longer time... and water keeps u hydrated.

Avoid salad before a game, can cause gas/uncomfortable feeling of fullness during the game.

    Candy, sugar, honey
After an initial rise, your blood-sugar level can actually
drop below normal, resulting in a sudden feeling of
    tiredness or fatigue.

    Tea, chocolate, cola
    Caffeine consumption leads to dehydration.

Fried foods, high-fat meats, fats, oils, gravies, sour cream, etc.
Fat digests slowly and therefore stays in the stomach
    longer.

Some raw fruits, vegetables, popcorn, nuts, dry beans and peas
Some of these foods may cause gas and/or an
uncomfortable feeling of fullness during the game. An
athlete needs to avoid the foods that give these
    problems.

    Any new food
Don't experiment with new foods right before an event. If
you experience any adverse reactions, your body has
    little time to recover.

    Fruit-flavored drinks
Many drinks contain little fruit juice and a great deal of
    sugar. Read the label.
