    Mcdoubles everyday

I know this is the PL section and not many care about nutrition but I was jus wondering. Does anyone here eat a couple mcdoubles evey day? Pretty cheap calories. $2.12 for 800 calories. I'm starting to eat 2-3 a day for lunch cuz I'm on the run and it's cheap. Anyone else do it?

Yeah i got to 230 or i cut down to 198 not caring for nutrition.

    I eat 6 dollar-meals (2 mcdouble/2 junior chicken sandwich/ 2 bacon cheeseburger) at least twice per week
Best total: 1715 (600-415-700) raw with wraps.

Very nice. I wanna compete at 181 when I start competing either later this year or beginning of next year. I'm already 18%ish bodyfat around 162. Even tho I wanna be a powerlifter and wanna gain weight I want to be healthy so I wanna gain 19 lbs slowly and McDonalds is an easy way to get in calories as log as I don't go too far over maintenece.

you just said it yourself.... cheaper beef. how do you think they can afford for those to be a dollar? obviously they are still making money on it, so that should tell you the quality is absolute garbage. of course everyone knows mcdonalds isn't the pinnacle of quality, but if you really stop to think about it, it should disgust you. i'm not going to sit here and say i never eat fast food, but i eat it maybe once a month, if that. i would rather spend my money on something i at least know is 100% beef. you can get real food for a good price... buy in bulk and pasta and beans will be ur friend. or do GOMAD. that'll help you gain for sure.

Very true. Most recommend GOMAD for really underweight people. I'm at a good weight and feel if I did GOMAD on top of normal meals I'd get a large amount of fat. Should I so GOMAD and maybe 1 solid meal a day?

Ill still search for cheaper beef cuz shopping at Giant or Wal Mart that beef is expensive

    390 Calories
    23g Protein
    19g Fat
    33g Carbs
    850mg Sodium <----- Mostly this.

"The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute recommends healthy adults consume no more than 2,400 milligrams of sodium daily" - http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/medi...dium-3662.html
"The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend limiting sodium to less than 2,300 mg a day" - http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/sodium/NU00284
"New data show that the average U.S. adult consumes one-and-a-half teaspoons of salt every day. That's a half teaspoon more than the basic daily recommendation of one teaspoon (about 2,300 milligrams of sodium)" - http://www.webmd.com/heart/news/2009...s-of-americans

2 McDoubles is 1700mg of sodium. Look at the other food you eat during the day and look at how much you are ingesting on a daily basis.

Too much sodium can cause all sorts of problems like high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke. Consuming too much salt can also make you prone to osteoporosis (thinning of the bones).

I understand that you're 18 and 'indestructible' (as most 18 year old males think of themselves, myself included), but there are much healthier ways to gain weight than eating fast food all the time.

** On a side note, watch the movie 'Super Size Me'. If that doesn't turn you off of regular fast food consumption, then you need professional help :P

In a post I stated I would like to gain 19 lbs SLOWLY! I'm just trying to find a cheap way to do it. To be healthy I'm thinking GOMAD would be better than McDonalds. I'm not trying to gain a ton of weight fast I said I want to do it slowly but I'm on a budget. Meat from the grocery store is pretty expensive. And if I buy I bulk from Costco my parents can't fit anything into our freezer.

just eat regular high protein meals over your maintaince calories? why would you need GOMAD or any other insanely calorie dense strategy to gain weight slowly ?

Your lack of basic nutrition is horrible. You need to keep sh!t simple. Use this and start from there. If you still don't get it after that then all hope is lost for you.

McDonalds should not even be called food... might as well be eating the steaks they make from shart in Japan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDvSPQ7megQ)

Why put your body through hell if you're trying to be... strong, I suppose. Nuts, olive oil, steaks, yams, avocados...all very good choices.

Damn man, just eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a liter of milk every 2-3 hours on top of a normal meal. Milk is still pretty nasty if you learn about it, but pick your poison these days.

    ......

1 cup of heavy cream has 800 calories. Mix it with some hershey's syrup and you got some thick ass chocolate cream/milk. CHEAP!

I'll never never understand why people do this crap. You should not just eat something because of its caloric value. You need to be paying closer attention to its actual macronutrients (fat, carbs, protein). You track your training via %'s, lbs, sets, and reps right? Well your diet should be treated the same if you're serious. If you're not then do what you want.

This comment is a bit of a blanket statement, IIFYM principals are for body composition purposes only it doesn't address diet for overall health and well being.
But yea, if this were posted over there this thread would be a 10 page flame war already
