I'm going to get a lot of flack for this. But the Royal Family is a joke. It's an archaic concept that has no place in today's society. Why is she entitled to 20 million a year of the Tax-Payers money simply because she is part of the lucky sperm club?

Again, I'm not making this post to offend anybody who is largely supportive of the loyal family. I simply would like somebody who possibly sees things different to explain the positives of using tax payers money to fund their life style, and what purpose they serve other than being a throwback to the olden times.

OK, so she gave the royal families companies to the government, good for her for doing something for her country. So people go visit the royal palace, ect. Thats great, how long have they been allowed to do that, 100 years out of the last 600 years of monarchy? The problem is she is asking for 17.5 million dollars for herself, and that her aides say she is having trouble making ends meet when she doesn't have to pay any major bills such as her palace and rolls royce's . What is an 80 something year old lady going to do with that kind of money?

From my understanding, Queen gets paid a lump sum each year and pays all her expenses with that money. Bush on the other hand gets his 400k (I think it may have even risen) each year and then gets all that other stuff on top.
