Why such an obsession with Obama and our election when you can't even vote in it to begin with?

I mean seriously I never see any american's going on message boards having orgasms say over a candidate from France and debating people till they are blue in the face that he or she is the second coming of god and will save the world.

I don't know just seems like you guys are kind of wasting your time on this. Your opinion won't make any difference but your vote can but problem is you can't vote in this.

The reason that I, and other foreigners care about American politics and the election is because bills passed and decisions made in Washington not only affect the 300+ million Americans, but hundreds of millions across the globe. The reason I care about American politics is because I care about 100 000 innocent Iraqi civilian casualties. I care about Iran acquiring nuclear weapons. I care about the capture of bin Laden. I am truly grateful that it is the U.S.A. that is the world's superpower, and not a communist country such as China or Russia. I want America to be the sole superpower for as long as I live, but I fear that this won't happen.

Over the last 8 years, you Americans have given up so much of your power and influence. We foreigners may have thought that some Americans were loud or arrogant, but we never doubted for a second that Americans and the U.S.A. were good with honest intentions. We loved you guys. That changed after Bush's disaster in the Middle East. He was wrong about WMD's. He was wrong about Sadam. He was wrong about Iraq. What was even more shocking to us, is that despite all of Bush's failures, Americans decided in '04 that he was still fit to be president. That's when anti-Americanism really took off. How could Americans re-elect a man that is engaged in an unjust and unnecessary war that is bankrupting them and ending thousands of lives? How could they re-elect a man that is trying to take away their freedoms? It was then that we began to doubt the intentions of the American people, and anti-Americanism flourished across the globe.

Americans have now reached another test. They have two options. They can either choose a man that falls right in line with Bush. A man that has roughly the same foreign policies that have destroyed America's standing in the world. Or, they could choose a man that has the right foreign policies. A man who will restore America's global standing. If Obama is elected president, this will prove to us that Americans have learned from the horrible decision they made in 2000 and 2004. We are desparate to love Americans again. Desperate because we believe you guys are good people. If Obama is elected, anti-Americanism will almost entirely cease overnight.

I deal with USD in my part time job, so the American economy directly effects the money in my wallet. The USA, greatly effects what is happening in Canada and I like to be informed on what's going on. I spend a good amount of time down in the states, and my parents are down there 2-3 months/ year. They are very in to politics in both the States, and Canada so we end up discussing it quite a bit.

The ones that pander to people like you, claiming that they are fiscally conservative, when their actions, once they attain power, are completely the opposite of what they promised. 1 you do not care about the lives of Iraq citizens for you did not support the war, if Saddam Hussein would not have been removed from power at the rate he was committing murder/genocide far more innocent Iraq citizens would be dead, mathematics proves me right on this.
