the armed forces.
I decided to make this thread for a military discussion. For all of you who are considering joining or are just curious feel free to ask.
Im currently prepping to go in the Navy and go through BUD/S in pursuit of becoming a Navy SEAL.
I think im pretty knowledgeable on most subjects of american military and i know several people to pick the brains of if i dont know the answer myself.
If any of you are interested in what kind of workouts you should be doing if you're considering going out for SEALs or any other special ops i can give you a workout that is given out by the navy special warfare for just that purpose. It is usually given out once you've signed up and contacted the one who will administer the physical fitness test.
Anyone who has some useful info or something interesting at all, post it up.
Id also like to get some people who are knowledgeable of military from other countries in here to answer some of my own questions  .

I'm not in the military but was planning to be most of my life until I had a knee injury a few years back. I might be able to help you out with any questions about the British military, I was good friends with a guy who was in the Royal Navy for 6 years, and a couple of my buddies are in the Army.
I'd be interested in seeing that Navy SEAL workout too if you don't mind. PM it to me if you don't want to post it here

id be interested in anything you could tell me about the british military, physical qualifications it takes, how long training is ect. Also would you say SAS and SBS are the most elite in the british military and how much do you know about them?

The intial training for the army depends on your entry level and can last from 14 weeks up to 42 weeks.
Same with the Navy and RAF, it all depends on what position you want to achieve. Physical requirements also vary, I can't remember the exact requirements for the army
My friend in the Navy was an engineer so obviously his training was slightly different to fit his role, although he still had to undergo all of the basic naval training.

now im actually in olathe kansas, i use to live in downtown kasas city. Lived all over kansas city though, we moved pretty much every year but not far  .
Here is the info on the SEALs and their BUD/S prep guide, sorry it took me so long to get it up.
run&swim schedule:
monday LSD(low intensity) run
tuesday CHI swim(chi is suppose to be an 8 out of 10 in intensity)
wednesday HIIT run
thursday LSD swim
friday CHI run
saturday HIIT swim
you will meet with someone who is or was Navy specops that will give you your push/pull/lower type workouts so everyones will be a little different. Ill post mine up.
The workout is made for people of moderate fitness level. The LSD runs assuming you can run 3 miles you add a quarter mile every week. eventually working up to 10 miles before you leave.
HIIT you start out at 4 intervals and add one every other week working up to 10.
LSD swim should start at 1000 yards and add 100 yards weekly working up to 3500 yards.
The chi you start at 15 minutes and every other week add one minute every other week, the CHI is kinda hard to explain. Once you get up to 20 you instead start doing 2 12 minute CHI runs and/or swims and add 2 minutes per interval every other week working up to 2 of 20 minutes.
They dont list all the test youll have to pass, no idea about the pushups and pull ect, but there will be 6.5 mile ocean swim and 14 mile run.
Im not going to post the entire routine on here right now, eventually i will scan it onto the computer so you can see the pictures that go with the exercises, some of which you may not know.
One thing i will try to describe that i like a lot is the pushup workout. It is easiest to do with a partner. You do 1 pushup, then you partner does 1, then you do 2 he does 2 and so on and so on...one you cannot complete the desired number of reps, say you get 9 and 10 but then cant get 11, you then work your way back down. Also do them on your fist or dumbells so you can go deeper, touch your chest to the ground but dont bounce.
You can do it by yourself though and just imagine you have a partner and rest between sets however long it took to complete the set.
it will look something like this
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
They have you do a crap load of dips and diamon pushups to, 3 kinds of pullups which you do 5 sets to failure of each, or with the pullups if you are already pretty good at them do them the same way you do pushups.
Lots of other things but im gonna go swim so il post the full routine later.

Lets not forgot there are many more jobs in the Army (many desk jobs) than the Marines. I hate it when people compare Army and Marines. It doesnt make sense. If anything compare Navy and Army. Rangers ftw.

I also got myself a contract today. I'm almost done with college. But decided I needed more action in my life. I was debating between Marines and Army.
I went with
Army Cavalry Scout 19D and Airbone in my contract. I wasn't to sure about Ranger, i decided I would just decided during training if I want to volunteer.
I have a question for anyone who is or was in the military. How many college credits do you think is reasonable to finish while on a 3 year contract.

Plan on joining the Royal Military Police in about 2 years time. After the 6 months general policing duties I want to specialise in Close Protection. It's a dream of mine to become a private close protection officer (bodyguard) one day and a military background is pretty key to the job.
If anyone knows anything about life in the MP let me know.

After I graduate HS this year I'm off to Community for 2 years to get my A.S. in Electrical Eng.
Hopefully if the world doesn't go to ****, I'll go into AFROTC for 4 years for a B.S. after those 2 years of Community.
