    Knots in my biceps

I have had a small hard lump or a knot on the surface of my left biceps for years.
It is small and pretty invisible if you don't know what to look for.
But you can feel it by running your finger over it.
There is a small "pit" just next to it.

I started lifting weighs a month ago and now the same small knot or lump appeared on the surface of my right biceps too.

    What are those knots?
Small tears in the fibers of the biceps???

I will try to, but they are easier to feel than to see.
    Hope I can photograph them.

Here, I hope they are visible.
At least I think the pits that are on the surface are visible from these photos.

hmmm...I can see what ur talkin about...but its hard to tell what it is. I would think if it were small tears, it would've healed in a yrs time..but since it appeared on the other arm, could be! I am assuming ur form when lifting is good and all that, as bad form could result in injury especially if lifting heavy.

I am no expert, but definitely get it checked out though to make sure its no form of skin cancer or anything of that sort just to be on the safe side (sometimes the lumps are benign and arent harmful).

It very well could be small tears. When the muscle tears the fibers contract a bit, leaving a "dent" where the fibers once were.

    They don't hurt.
Well, maybe just a bit or at least I haven't noticed much pain in those dents/lumps.

If I don't lift really heavy weights, I can't grow, right?
On the other hand, if I keep lifting heavy, I will get those tears in my biceps.
    It's a dilema...
Should I just stop lifting weights?

It would be a pitiy since I bought 25 pounds of proteing powder and a sh*tload of supplements.

BTW, I have one other problem with my right biceps.
Check this out and tell me what it is.
Only occurs if I grab my right biceps with my left hand and twist the skin a little bit.
These are not visible if I don't twist the skin and they are not present on my left biceps even when i twist its skin really hard.

WTF are these wide and ugly wrinkles/dents?

Maybe they are the same dents, created by broken fibers but only visible if you tighten the skin around them?
Or maybe these are future stretch marks?
    WTF?

Everyones muscles vary. Those bumps are so small I would say it is likely normal and just a genetic trait you recieved. When I first began cutting up I started to freak out and think I had a tear in my biceps because I began to see the line between the two biceps heads. Who knows maybe the two heads are what the bumps are. I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes painful or they increase in size.

If somebody has the same problem, please share.

I think I will lift light weights tomorow.
It is going to be one pointless workout but still better than nothing.
I hope it will not cause more torn fibres too.

    Damn...

Guys, I think I found what those knots in my biceps are.
It is very likely that they are Muscle Trigger Points.

****... looks like that Trigger Points are not easy to treat and it seems that not too many doctors know a damn thing about them.

What do you guys know about Muscle Trigger Points?
    Am I screwed?
Should I keep working out with the knots present?

It could be many things.. I would check with your doctor and not with this site.. the reason is because it can be a "trigger point" but it can also be a cyst of some sort.. No one will be able to tell except for a doctor.

    yep that's what they are.

Screwed nah, out of commission for while yes.

Look for a myotherapist, they deal specifically with trigger point.

    ^ Thanks, man.
Have you ever had the same problem?
    Been to a myotherapist?
How long does the therapy take?

OK, what I'm trying to ask is: does it hurt?

    Not a man but pleasure.

Not personally no but a guy I know is a myotherapist and he looks after a couple of rugby teams just signed himself a seven 7 contract with the Football team over in Florida.

He's told me it only takes a couple of sessions, to fix the problem.

And yes it hurts like hell - he makes grown men cry. (no ****)

It does depend on the severity though and if it's too tender to touch the therapist shouldn't work to deep on the muscle the first time.

^ I apologize about the "man" thing.

Damn... so it looks I am screwed after all - I'm gonna get tortured.

Still, I hope these knots in my biceps are Trigger Points and not torn muscle fibers.
Trigger points sound like a better deal, no matter how painful their treatment is.

^ I apologize about the "man" thing.

Damn... so it looks I am screwed after all - I'm gonna get tortured.

Still, I hope these knots in my biceps are Trigger Points and not torn muscle fibers.
Trigger points sound like a better deal, no matter how painful their treatment is.

if you think they might be torn then I would go get it checked out by a doc.

Actually a Myotherapist should be able to tell you that as well, well a good one anyways. If they start with lets get you on a machine then they are rubbish.

It will be worth it in the end though trust me because it will only take one or two sessions.

I live in Bulgaria (that's in Europe).
We have a lot of sport rehabilitation centers.
Funny I have never heard of myotherapy.
Maybe they have a local name for it here.

Damn, there are no any myotherapists in my country.
    Not a single one.
Seems that myotherapy is really not popular in Europe.
Looks like the closest country that has myotherapists is Switzerland.

I spoke to a guy who does deep muscle masage and says he can get me rid of the knots.
But he lives 350 km away and the therapy lasts for at least 10 days.
    Damn, damn, damn...

We have a sports clinic in our town.
Will talk to some of the doctors there.
maybe they will recomend me a good massage therapist or something.

By the way, are there any cremes or other medicaments that can be used for treating MTPs?
There should be something that is capapble of relaxing the clenched fibres in those knots, I guess.
