I don't have cable yet would you mind posting what happened. I am doing my own personal biggest loser competition and would like to keep up with stuff on the show. Thanks if you can. I appreciate it.

While I love the theme of this show, I do not think it is necessarily the best thing for people watching who are trying to lose weight. The people on this show lose insane amounts of weight each week (b/c of high starting weight, they have to exercise constantly, and are in a controlled environment in regads to food), and regular people who are trying to lose weight are properly losing probably .5 to 2 pounds per week (which is what you should be losing) see this show, and say "screw this, I'm not succeeding", and give up after a couple weeks because of lack of progress. But I'll say again, the theme of the show i think is fantastic.

It's one of the very few things I watch on TV. I agree that it may paint an unrealistic picture for those who don't realize the timeline and specifically planned out enviroment that they are put in though. If you are capable of grasping that fact though it is a very motivational show for people like me. It's just one more thing to keep me pointed in the right direction. It's like a friend checking in once a week to say, "what have you done lately". (Wait, that sounds kinda sad for me doesn't it. lol) Either way, you get what I mean.

I watched it last night and I am not surprised by the loss. Think about it. These are folks who in excess of hundred pounds or more overweight.
They are now getting the chance to eat healthy and drink more water. The one gentlemen that was there with his daughter lost what? 27lbs? And he did not workout a lot because he was told by the show's doctor that he cannot do more then 30 minutes a day of *light* exercise.
What did it for him was changing eating habits and drinking more water instead of I am sure coffee, pop, sugared drinks.
Many people can do the same thing at home, but refuse to because they think they can't do it alone. I don't know about you but if I had Bob or Jillian (Gillian?) yelling at me I would be motivated (or scared) to keep going.
This show is yes unrealistic compared to many who are trying at home. But it shows that it CAN be done. By anyone.
Even the losers last night who got voted off have been doing it even after leaving the show.

Exactly... I was 120 lbs. overweight in March. Same thing for me. First week I lost 20 lbs. Second week I lost 2 lbs. Then it started to level out from there. It takes your body a certain amount of time to adjust. Regardless, it shows progress can be made. The show is better for me as the episodes progress further and further along. The first few shows are the "shock" part of the program. After about a month it starts to become more realistic and helpful to the viewer. Granted they are in a severely controlled enviroment with 2 1/2 hours of gym time a day. None the less, it is simply meant to be an inspirational show and prove that it can be done.

You have to consider what the BMR for someone that size is to begin with. Its probably astronomical. Now when you add that level of exercise (one guy had a 3300 calorie DEFICIT from exercise!), the enhanced metabolic rate from circuit training and a sane daily meal plan with significantly less cals than they typically eat (and good ones at that) the initial weight loss is HUGE!
I watch the show because I was there & can relate. It was a local "Biggest Loser" fitness challenge (I won! )that got me going & led me to where I am now.
Warching last night's episode was the 1st time since my transformation that I really could "remember" what it was like. I am making a point to go back to the fitness center tomorrow & giving all the PTs a HUGE hug & re-thank you!!!
