Work out using baby as weight!
I saw a short clip of this workout on TV and it looked kinda fun. The women used her baby as a weight to do squats, lunges, etc. As the baby getting older and heavier the workout becomes more challeging. I have a friend who is having a baby soon and wants this workout. But I don't know what its called and can't find it anywhere!!! Anyone know anything about this? Heard of it??? Thanks

I have never heard of this, but be careful that your baby does not get motion sickness. You may be wearing his/her lunch.

Haha, I hear ya. I think they are supposed to be fairly slow and controlled but some babies still might not like it.

If your friend buys a Moby wrap there are instructions on different exercises using your baby as weight for squats and lunges and stuff. A great form of exercise for me is to put my daughter in a baby carrier on my back (I love wraps, some people prefer a Beco or an Ergo carrier) and go hiking. Great workout for my legs and I really feel it the next day, since she's 13 months now and about 22 lbs!

I suggest buying a newfoundlander puppy instead.
Pros:
1. It grows much faster = faster progress
2. It's more ergonomic, considering it's fully developed at the age of 2 month and you won't break it
3. It can't call social service and chances are your neighbours won't either
4. It grows much BIGGER, so you'll be front - squatting 60 kg in no time
Cons:
1. It throws up
2. R/U SPCA is more strict than any social service
3. It BITES.
Joking aside, I'm SURE fresh parents are enthusiastic to play with the new toy, but seriously, use barbells and dumbbells before you love the kid to death. Would YOU like to be grabbed by a creature approx. 10x your size and squatted? Probably not. Don't do it to your kid just because someone thought they might make a buck on "innovative" training.
PS.
Or your dog. This is NOT an invitation to molest your dog. I was semi-joking and it is called "sarcasm".
PPS.
If you wanna do donkey calves with your 20yo kid, that's cool.

Shes not really into fitness like us on this site. She just wants a fun little routine to do at home once in a while where she can involve her baby. I would take the gym and big weights anyday but this is what she wants and I'm trying to help and motivate her.
