When Im done doing a set of curls, skull crushers and even the occasional bench press, part of my arm will be absolutly killing me. Obviously, right? Its a different kind of pain. Not a muscle. On my forearm (elbow side), about 3 inches down from my side there is this horrible pain. Like a far more intense bruise, but nothing is there. For lack of a better example, It almost feels like the bone hurts. It will hurt for DAYS. I even stopped lifting for about a week to give it time to heel but it still hurts. This has been going on since I started lifting again about 2 months ago. Is this normal? Is there a way to prevent this?

My forearms arnt "huge" either. But like I said, it isnt even on the side that has most of the muscle.
It didnt use to happen at all. Not while lifting. Then one day after a set, the pain was in my right arm. A few weeks later, I started getting it in my left (while it was still hurting in my right). It hurts when lifting and when I push in the area. Normal walking around and what not it doesnt hurt.

this is a very common problem, i forgot the exact details but its due to over use of your forearms and lack of stretching, basically the facia (lubricant) in your forearm wears out and becomes rough so that when they rub against each other, instead of being slippery and smooth like it should, its rough and as it becomes rough it causes great pain when you use your forearms with force, anyway enough of my horrible explaination
the cure!
stretch your forearms before, after, during workouts and throughout the day! rub the spot where it hurts (yes i know its extremely painful) and stay away from the straight barbell bicep curls (use easy curl bar instead!) and soon enough you will be back to normal again
also drink lots of water
good luckLast edited by Hottsauce; 09-12-2008 at 09:32 PM.

A strength imbalance between the bicep and forearm can result in the pain you describe. Since the bicep is much larger it essentially forces the forearm beyond its limits. Ease off the biceps and focus on strengthening your forearms for a few weeks. Then resume your normal workouts but make sure to incorporate some forearm work to keep the ?strength balance? in check.
I prefer the Ivanko SuperGripper, but there are many different routes to the same objective. Don?t forget to work you calves .

Ivanko Super Gripper
Calculon,
It sounds like you are a new to bodybuilding and IMO, the injury you describe is fairly common to the novice. As I mentioned in my previous post, many novice lifters will hit a muscle group hard (like biceps) while neglecting other related muscle groups (like forearms).
I'm willing to bet if you ease off the biceps a bit and focus on strengthening your forearms the pain will subside. Then adjust your routine to be more "well-rounded" and begin to hit it hard again.
I would also buy the following book. It has been extremely helpful in diagnosing injuries, areas requiring additional work, body mechanics, etc.

have just encountered the same problem exactly described as the original post was preacher bar curling and felt like the radius bone was hurting, A LOT, sharp pain on contraction and extension of the curl, hurting even still at rest, have been doing some research, (dont know if anyone else agrees but...) symptoms described are similar to that of a radius stress fracture?

I too experienced a very deep pain in my upper right forearm. Not the normal sore muscle type of pain. This lingered on for about two and half weeks all the while just ignoring it. Of course during a heavy set of pull downs my bicep tendon tore off. Go hard guys but definitely listen to this type of pain.
