Any yoga opinions?
I've just signed up (and paid dearly for) a series of yoga classes to extend through the fall and winter. I'm doing it to basically help improve my balance, ability to stretch and just general health. The entire staff seems to be a bunch of hemp smoking, tree hugging druids but I can live with that as long as the classes themselves are worthwhile.
This is my first expereince with yoga though. Have any of you done it? Did you find it to be worthwhile in addition to your lifting and nutrition routines? Just curious...
Thanks in advance.

I have taken yoga before and it really helped me with flexibility, stretching and most importantly my breathing (I have really bad asthma) and it helped me control and relax my breathing while I exercise.
enjoy your class

Word of advice, don't eat foods which might throw off you stomach or give gas. Some of the routines, well I think you understand....But I have taken a few with the girl and there fun, more of a lifter, but def. could see how the class could help in lifting. Giving you a greater range of motion. And there are def. some cute girls in the classes...
And if your paying for the class, make sure the teacher is knowledgeable and such...Because my girl says that makes the class better, and they which exercises to perform for the greatest work out

so true, if it's hot yoga, drink water allll day, you will sweat so much it's not funny.
controlling your breathing is number one, which gets hard with how much effort you will be expending, depending on your size (im a big guy)
make sure you stay away from the first row, all the super hot chicks are up there to show off how flexible they are, and you definitely want the view from behind

Blocks and Strap are your Friend!
Yes. Yoga I have found to be very complimentary to my weight training. It really helps to keep me flexible because with weight training it tightens us. It was also very helpful when I was recovering from back surgery and to this day, I include some of the stretches in my daily training routine. All that said?I learned a lot from the classes, but will probably never take one again lol. Just not my element...they even chanted in mine
Enjoy yourself! It was a worthy investment and you can take what you learned and add it to your workouts. I think you should try a Pilates class next
Oh...and don't forget your blocks for "Downward Facing Dog"...trust me. You will want them. Always remember the Blocks and Strap are your best friends in yoga class. And a tin of altoids for your co-yogi's may come in handy. Alot of deep breathing going on there....

Always wanted to do it, i think cross training is a great thing to supplement a good lifting program. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
