Iron Gym chinning bar
Has anyone purchased the iron Gym chinning bar? If so does it work as advertised without the need to screw it into the door? Thanks.

Its is the same as all the other "door gym" style pullup bars, except it costs more than most.
Yes it simply slips on your door frame w/ no needs for screws or anything.
Check around, you can get one for half that price (just diff brand). I know I did.
one example:
http://www.everlast.com/everlast-mul...e-gym-bar.html
cost me $25 brand new.

$29.99
You can buy this for $29.99 on the site www.buyirongym.com
I was just talking to a guy at work about this Iron Gym bar yesterday and we were wondering about the safety aspect. How solid does it hang? Is there any possibility of it falling while you are hanging from it? That could be ugly.

It would only fall if the door frame trim falls.

Post Review
If anyone does buy or try this product....please DO post a review. I've been looking at a similar product on amazon...
http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Fitne...0733677&sr=8-2
but it seems I can do more, i.e. dips, with the iron gym bar.
Also, I am hesitant to buy "As Seen on TV," products, what are your guys' experiences with these types of purchases?

Iron Gym review to come.
I just bought an Iron Gym today. It will post a 1st impression review as soon as I get it. I bought it because I am planning the also use P90X and this tool should be useful since P90X calls for pull-ups and dips and I can also add more back exercises when working out at home.

Doing dips in the seated position like shown on the video are just about worthless, you could get much more range of motion using chairs and/or a bench. The guy is going down about 3 inches for goodness sake. Now if you get some gym rings to go along with one of these bars, you immediately give yourself a lot more options (including ring dips).
Again, my doorway pullup bar, which is just like this works just fine. It is NOT my main or my favorite pullup bar (I have several), but is okay for doing grease the groove and for someone with NO room, it may be necessary.
Again, cheaper versions of this are out there.

Does the iron gym or any other type of those "no screws" bars damage the top of your doorframe? I am afraid that if I put it on my door it will break the top of it, even though my door seems pretty sturdy

No, it doesnt pull down on the top of the frame. Due to the cantilever system it pushes against each side of the frame on the side that you are actually on and on the wall above where the part rests on top of the frame trim.

I'm going to have to try this out simply because my gym doesn't have a Glute Ham Raise machine, and it looks like I can use the "sit up" setting to do GHR's off the floor.

I'm wondering about this products also. I heard that it scratches the varnish off of the door frame.
Let us know what you rate these products.

Screw that. I would have cancelled the order right there and than. These are all "hidden" charges they don't advertise.

I was able to cancel my order, save myself 30 bucks and bought the creative fitness door gym on amazon.com for 45 with free shipping(it had great reviews also)

Could have told you guys they would try to upsell you on the style, shipping, etc etc etc
Again-look around in your local stores. I got the same one made by Everlast at a local store for $25.

yo you guy are ridiculous. I bought the iron gym at amazon.com. cost me 29.99 and around 4.99 shipping. bill came out to be like 38 dollars or something like that, for sure less than 40 bucks. I got it about 2 weeks after my order and it works great. its very sturdy and does not scratch the wooden door frame. I say buy this product. turned out to be a very good bar.
you should order it like i did. amazon is cheap...

I just picked it up at Linen n things for 22.49+tax after a 25% discount.
It doesn't mar the fram.
the hardest part was moving the rubber padding to match up with the door frame.

This thing works great. I got mine at walgreens, well worth the thirty bucks. Been using it for a week and half now and coulnt be happier. Great piece of equipment, far superior to your average door chin setup. Next best thing to buying a chin rack
