I dont do it, but if I did, I would do run in the morning, lift at night.
The reason being, catecholamines (which induce fat oxidation) peak during the morning soon after waking, so running on a near empty stomach will promote fat loss.
AND
About 30mins to 1 hour into sleep your body peaks with HGH (human growth hormone). So lifting closer to then would promote muscle growth.
This does not mean you dont grow if you train in the morning, just to make that clear

depends on how hard your cardio is but same day cardio and strength training will negate some of your strength gains. Light cardio wont make big diff but any time your doing cardio AND strength your always short changing strength a bit, but more so with same day. With that said cardio is hella important so some times you just have to bite the bullet and make that compromise

I can't lift in the morning, although I've certainly tried. Also, I can't eat first thing in the morning. The only thing I can tolerate upon waking is a cup of coffee, so there's no way I'd be able to lift anything on just that. I have done cardio on coffee though, and it seems to work out pretty good.
My lifting peak is mostly during the later in the day, or even the early evening hours. I may not not have the ultimate psychological motivation later in the day, but it seems as if my strength peaks more so after 12 PM as opposed to earlier.“Any idiot can face a crisis, it is this day-to-day living that wears you out.” Anton Chekhov

Do NOT under any circumstance run on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. There are a million articles on BB explaining why.
Personally I do like to do my cardio earlier in the day around 10 and work out around 5. When I start HIIT I'll do it right after I finish lifting but there's a HUGE difference between going for a run and HIIT.Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
