FFS people! Use a power rack or get hurt!

I can not believe the amount of people I see and hear about who do weights without saftey bars. Its like driving a car around without a seatbelt on. Please, for your own saftey, buy a power rack or some sort of gym that has safety bars. It is by far one of the best investments you will ever make.

Oooh get her!, What brought that on?

Admittedly safer, but i've managed to survive without one.

Great advice but it will fall largely on deaf ears here. Most of the new lifters here do not have much knowledge of how to use equipment properly and would rather be at the mercy of a lifting partner/spotter.

Agree, the best investment for my home gym. Wouldn't do squats or bench press without one.

Personally, I suggest everyone stay away from power racks. Nothing like a little fear to help you set a PR.

It doesnt matter to me, I just don't like seeing people get hurt. Especially when the videos get posted on youtube. I'm not having a go at anyone, just work it out yourselves I guess. It only takes one accident to injure yourself so badly that you may not be able to do weights for a long time or ever. Its only like $400 for a rack.

Yeah I'm lucky I use one.

Sometimes I'll get lazy and won't set the bars though, but thats usually for lighter weights.

Luckily during the last earthquake It didn't throw me off my feet while I was squatting.

Only in crappy public gyms. Which is why I prefer my home gym. No noobs or teens.
