Favorite laundry Detergent (scent and quality)
First off, no no, I'm not assuming women = laundry. I'm just posting it here because I figure there'd be better input on the preference of scent.
I've been using Gain forever (well, since I moved out on my own) but I'm tired of the smell. Gain is just the cheapest name brand at Costco, so it got the vote. It washes clothes just fine, but the scent is far from great.. to me.
I have started using dryer sheets and they are nice. I'm trying Snuggle (the teddybear ones) for now IIRC.
What are you using?
Thanks.

I LIKE ALMONDS.
I also use snuggle. It smells wonderful. Plus there is a cute little bear on the box. Although I don't how interested men are in cute little bears. 'Smells good, though. There is different smells of Gain, on the market now, i believe. I'm pretty sure I have lilac or something like that. Better than original !

agreed...gain works the best and the scent is great. I also use the dryer sheets though which makes them really smell good!

Cop, the best job ever!
I use ALL. It smells nice, but the smell does not overpower your clothes. I use Bounce dryer sheets and downey softener. They all work great, and it does not bother anyone's nose or skin in my family. I have three boys and a husband, and no one complains about smelling 'girly'!

I gave my sister a bunch of t-shirts and my niece was all excited about them smelling like me (I did clarify that was a good thing ).
I change what I use from time to time, but the trick to getting scent to stay in clothes compared to what my sister does is to use double the liquid fabric softener you're supposed to and to also use drier sheets.
My absolute favorite smell in Gain's Gardenia, but it's really hard to get ahold fabric softener in that scent around here for some reason.
It seems to be the liquid fabric softener that leaves the most scent, so I normally use Arm&Hammer detergent and whatever fabric softener suits my fancy at the time. Downy is normally my go-to softener. I like their febreeze and Simple Pleasures lines and just get what smells great at the time. If you need something cheaper, the blue suavitel is actually pretty nice.
The original Fab kind of reminds me of men's cologne. I really like the smell and would use that if I were a guy.

I have been using Purex Ultra Concentrated and it smells really good, and you only need a small capful. I do always use dryer sheets as well.

I will have to look into liquid softener and see how it goes. It would be nice if my clothes came out a little softer and less scratchy.
Does anyone know if Costco carries different scents of Gain? For now, the dryer sheets are enough to cover the scent of Gain that I'm tired of.

Exposed to Gravity
I'm old-fashioned!
Snuggle and other fabric softeners make me SNEEZE. Too much perfume/too many unnecessary chemicals.
As you can see, I'm pretty natty about my laundry. I do clothes pretty much the way they were done in 1947 or something. I don't want ANY added scent in the clothes.
If I want scent, I have a wonderful verbena essence from L'Occitane that I bought several years ago. One lil' spritz to the back of the neck and I'm good!
Often, I wash the laundry by hand with soap flakes from TJMaxx or even a bit of shampoo. Then, I hang the clothes outside in the sun, which is THE BEST dryer/cleanser/deodorizer there is! I LOVE the scent and feel of laundry after a day in the sun! The sun is absolutely the best way to dry clothes, at least if you have a back yard to hang 'em in!
I occasionally use a little plain ol' bleach or Boraxo if they're needed.
I do not like "softened" fabrics or dryer sheets. I want that crisp, clean feel. I don't notice any scratchiness at all, unless it's some wool thing for a 15 degree day in January.
If it goes in the machine, I use ALL or scent-free Tide. Nothing for the dryer, except that I check the dryer regularly to pull out the stuff that's dry.

i use gain apple mango tango. it smells wonderful, but it doesnt hold! the best way to get the smell to stay, as mentioned above it to use fabric softner, and a lil more than sposed to! just look around and youll find something!

I have to use HE detergent because I have a front loader, and there's not much to pick from (Tide or Gain basically) but as for dryer sheets, I love the ones that have the Lavender scent added

I'm also not a fan of using scented laundry detergent. It would just interfere with the perfume I'm wearing anyway. I use Cheer Free.
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0723134438.htm
Growing up my mother used Amway and I don't have a lot of experience with other brands. I think I tried Tide a long time ago and found Cheer was gentler on fabrics.
However, my sister swears that powders get stains out better than the liquid varieties.
And this is just a sidenote, but you shouldn't use fabric softener on towels. I found this out when I was at Macy's buying some expensive a$$ Calvin Klein towels once and asked the salesperson how to keep them soft and fluffy (not matted) and absorbent and he said don't use fabric softener. There are a lot of links on the internet about this too.

Mindi,
Win is all my wife and I use. Its the only thing that will work on tech fabrics that get bacteria embedded in them.
She teachses group fitness 8-10 times a week and after while her outfits would get a odor in them even after multiple washes. Win was the only thing that worked. Now all the instructors at the gym use it. Its expensive...but not as expensive as replacing tech clothes.

here's a tip from a guy.
you don't want to walk around smelling like Tide.
get unscented detergent and dryer sheets and get a good cologne.
if you want to smell like spring mist or summer flowers go for it.
