Here we go.
Today marks Day 1 of Ramadan. A month where Muslims around the world fast from sunrise to sunset. With that said, since I have been cutting on keto for some time, I figured it would make sense for me to log how keto works when fasting.
Diet prior to this
I was on Keto for roughly 2 months. The last two weeks though I took a break from it.
My Regiment (roughly):
- Pre-Fasting Meal (4am)
- Fasting Starts (4:30am)
- Iftar (breaking fast) (7:30pm)
- Lift at the gym (8:30pm)
- PWO
- Taraweeh
Workout routine
I've been doing Ripptoes Starting Strength, 3 days a week. That log has been updated regularly here: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=107486871
Starting Stats
Height: 5'6
Weight: 180lbs
BF%: 19% (using calibers)
Goal
Cut some bodyfat Insh'Allah. Trying to get to 8-10% by the end of the year. However, that long term goal is outside the scope of this log.

Good luck brother. In the UK we have around 1hr till iftar inshallah. I've suspended my gym membership for this month and will lift at home after taraweeh prayers inshallah. I'll most def let my lifitng come second this month, in perspective my body will be the first thing to disintegrate in the grave and therefore i reckon working on my soul is more important.

I am interested in seeing how this works out for you.
I would like to know how keto and intermittent fasting work well together, so following your log would be a good idea...
I understand the fasting in Ramadan is no water/no food/no conjugal relations... unlike intermittent fasting where its just no food/no conjugal relations...

Oh, I would also like to know, how you are going to plan your workouts / cardio...
how you going to the gym before dawn, after sunset, or late night?
Thanks!
EDIT: Just wondering how you are going to break your fast.... are you eating a cheese stick or are you going to eat a date (what about the sugars?)Last edited by Korry1; 09-01-2008 at 02:00 PM.

Its a special type of prayer read during ramadan, it can last up to an hour. And do be honest I have heard many refer to it is a form of cardio lol, because in addition to praying and remebering Allah during the hour you are continuously partaking in cycles of standing, bowing, prostrating and sitting.

Day 4 continued
Break-fast: dates, water, rice, chicken, a bit of yogurt, fried veggies
Day 5
Pre-Fast: 2tbsp TB, 1 scoop whey, 1 scoop caesin, water
Break-fast: dates, water, fried veggies, burger
Day 6
Pre-Fast: 2tbsp TB, 1 scoop whey, 1 scoop caesin, water
Conclusions thus far... it's really hard to keep Keto macros during Ramadan, simply because of all the community iftars. However, I am trying by best. Good thing is, I do believe I've been able to remain in ketosis for the majority of the time thus far.Because if it were easy, I wouldn't be interested.
