AM work out groggyness

I used to work out in the afternoon. I have no trouble getting up to work out at 7am but it seems that my body is still not fully awake and I cannot get as intense as I would like. Any suggestions?

I was thinking of maybe adding in a 10 min bike or walk to my stretching to get my blood flowing.

Thanks.

I usually go for a 15-20 walk every AM within 10 min of waking every day. Whether AM or PM workout. I'm very groggy until noon or so if I don't do this.

When I did morning workouts I HAD to do 15 minutes of cardio.

I do it so it was real easy the first 5 moderate the second 5 then the last 5 min I'd push it a little. This was the only way I'd get warm/ awake enough to lift properly.

I eat a bowl of oatmeal and slam my pre-workout NO as soon as I wake up, make up the pre-workout cocktail the night before so it's nice a chilled for when I get up. Like you said, try some ab workout or 10mins of cardio/stretching to get the blood flowing... I do that everytime I step in the gym.

You could:
  • jump into a cold shower/wash face with cold water (helps to wake me up)
  • Get some caffine pills/ coffee
  • do some LI cardio for ~10-15
  • Put on some loud rock music

1/2 cup oats, 1 scoop whey protein in a blender. drink 8-12 oz of water and take some multi's. eating fruit can help as well. an orange is good. when you get to the gym hit an eliptical for 5-10 min.
