Air and Space Museum

Me and my one buddy Scott always take at least one daytrip every summer and we are always looking for different ideas for places to go. We were going to go to a waterpark but decided to try something different this year and hit some museums down by Washington D. C.. When I first suggested it he joked with me about, "****, you can tell we are getting old when a fun day sounds like a museum." But he came up with the idea of going to the Air and Space Museum (udvarhazy):
http://www.nasm.si.edu/museum/udvarhazy/

It was really one of the best daytrips we have had. I'm not really into aviation but it was so neat to look at all these aircraft throughout history. I thought I would just share some of the pics for anyone who finds this stuff interesting. Admission was free, but parking was $12. Pretty cheap for a nice day away from work.

That is awesome Bonk! I have been aviation crazy way back to grade school. Joined the Marines so that I could work on aircraft and figure out what makes them work...

Thanks for posting these!

It is really cool standing there realizing you are looking at something that had been ON MARS!! It was just really neat getting to see some of this stuff up close.

You're welcome. I was overwhelmed looking at some of the planes just imagining what went into the construction of the aircraft. I am truly impressed that mankind has gotten the sophistication to actually develope ways to get these massive hunks of metal to stay aloft. I think I have one pic of a helicopter that I will try to find (forgive me for not knowing it's name) that had the engine in the front to balance its weight. They had the engine exposed so you could see it. (I found the pic but it is kind of blurry)
