Heavy weight, but not to much that you don't get full ROM.

Doing Shrug work is good, but remember: Deadlifts, rack pulls and farmers walks hit the traps hard.

After doing a deadlift, I like to shrug at the top. It's awesome. (If it's a high rep weight)
People ask why I train so much and eat like I do all the time... Well, the answer is simple:
I will not allow somebody with half the determination and twice the genetics be better than me.

[800+, must post in same thread, comment: rep back]

high reps, low weight, gotta really feel the muscle contract during the movement. also for shrugs i prefer barbells over dumbbells, i know most people prefer dumbbells but barbells just hit it better, ecspecially behind the back shrugs.
Wow your signature is so deep.

DB's are great, unfortunately not many gyms have DB's heavy enough to do the job.

I do both high rep & low rep. Seems to be working quite well. But I also do numerous other excercises that bring the traps in.
    "Starting Weight" 3/21/08: 161 lbs
    Weight as of 8/21/08: 173
    Bench: 255 x 1
    Squat: 205 x 5 x 5 :( Moving up though
    Dead: 315 x 1 :)
