Also don't forget about concentration and rate of digestive enzymes- this varies from person to person

soo what would the average be ?
i read this article on brian urlacher and his trainer said 30g/meal can be absorbed only. i've heard its upwards of 70.
does the extra protein not absorbed by the body turn into fat? or is it stored for later protein usage???

I stick with about 24-35 per meal every 2-3 hours. You also want to make sure that you get the right protein at the right time.

You really can't put a number on that at all. It seems like the body will adapt to any amount of protein that is ingested.

no expert advice needed, use common sense and basic math. according to what you said the max protein intake for anyone daily would be about 280g per day and that would be assuming you ate every 3 hours around the clock. what do you suggest happens to the excess if say someone consumes 400g a day, or more?

the funny thing about the whole bears trainer thing is, I know where the Bears train in the offseason, (a real facility with real trainers), most certainly not RJ who was likely the source quoted in the article

he asked for a mean. i gave a logical and researched answer.
400g would suffice for an NFL player, for example. that would be on the high end of the spectrum. if i ate 400g... well it wouldn't be pretty.
thank you for finally jumping in.

That answer really isn't dealing with what the OP asked. I believe your answer is something about dealing with maximum protein synthesis, but not the amount of protein the body can take in per meal.

how much it can take per meal?
before what? you die? you have it come out your ears? you smell like a chicken breast under your arms?
it all depends on the body/person you are talking about. it's an individual & personal question, then. no one answer.

there's no "real research" supporting the bro-notion that just wont die that suggests the body can only absorb 30-35g protein per meal. There was a study a long time ago that suggested this in some capacity but it was basically an embarrassment to real science

But you tried to answer it so you are contradicting yourself.
The body will adapt to any habitual intake if macronutrients that are "thrown" at it. If you consume 50 grams of protein per meal spread across 7 meals it isn't like after the first 35 grams (the number you threw out) of protein are utilized then you just **** out everything else.

I doubt anyone knows for sure but think of it in terms of evolution in ancient times, when food was scarce and you may have only gotten a good kill in once or twice a week and had to eat all 300-400g of protein or whatever in one sitting. The body adapts to the situation
like envy said, you dont **** out "unabsorbed protein" above some "limit" some sham of a research study tried to suggest

I'd stick to around 25 grams per 2/3 hours as above.
sooo 25 x 12 hour day = 300 grams of protein per day. some people that would be just enough to maintain; on others, its enough to bulk

I think you should base it on your weight and your METABOLISM. There are som eguys who can hold their mass w/o consuming huge amounts of protein. I'd say 30 is a nice baseline and then adjust up or down accordingly
