Read this.

Based on this explanation, it is clear that your sweat will smell like ammonia only if an excessive amount of amino acids are being used for energy, or you are not receiving adequate water.
|
Solution?
Quote:
|
The key to avoiding that ammonia smell is to ingest sufficient carbohydrates. If you eat an ample amount of carbohydrate with every meal, then you should have plenty to fuel your exercise activity.

When you do cardio fasted, you body will excrete may excrete a small amount of ketones via the skin. Eating carbs before cardio seems extraordinarily counterproductive. Why the hell bother? You eat carbs, you decrease FFA availability. I can't think of anything stupider (no offense to anyone, just my opinion).

Had the same issue, solved it with water and cinnamon! (Mix 1 tsp of powder cinnamon with your workout water.)
Or water with a few drops of rose water..
Don't ask me how it works, but I smell friggin GREAT! haha
good luck and PM me if you try it out please! Interested to know the results

This is a huge debate. 50/50 really.
I've lost 32lbs since January doing 30mins of fasted cardio 4-6x/week following heavy weight training each morning.
I disagree with your statement. Everyone reacts to it differently.

Heaven forbid we use BODYFAT for fuel instead of what we just ate.

neither method is "stupid"
fasted low intensity cardio utilizes ffa's moreso during exercise.
fueled moderate or high intensity cardio burns less fat during the activity but has a larger response post-workout.
from what i've read, they are essentially equals as far as the current data can show

I never had this problem when I was fasted-cardio freak (5x a week) so I have no experience. I was consuming X-Tend though. So the whole BCAA-supplementation might have stopped anything I might have encountered.

I could be wrong but i'm pretty sure bcaa's are quite insulinogenic anyway so if you're going to use them, may as well get some carbs in so you can knock up the intensity some more

And the "stupidest" thing is not knowing that it's "more stupid" not "stupider"
lol, no offense guys! That was just too good to let slide.

Please elaborate. What's stupid about using fat to fuel your cardio session?

i'd like to hear some more about this, when i was cutting i was about at 2000 calories a day, and w/ lifting 2-3 days a week, and doing muay-thai boxing 3 days a week, one day i noticed my hand wraps smelled like amonia very bad, really not sure what it was, but i was also drinking a gallon of water a day, so i didn't think it was dehydration. had me worried for a bit, but i never noticed it again. and i always thought doing fasted cardio in the morning, your body was in a catabolic state and would use muscle glucose for energy and store fat, no?

IMO Don't overdue it man. Reason being, you should lose weight just fine with 45min session a day per 5 to 6 times a week. If weightloss stalls, then you tweak cardio.

the idea is that your glycogen is used first so its depleted by the morning forcing you to go right to fat stores. Its highly contested on both sides but in my experience it worked. Layne, who is a popular bodybuilder here and a working on being a scientist posted some information on it being a myth but I didnt interpret the results the same as him. That said, he is the expert, not me.. Ill see if I can find it.

If you're an endo or meso-endo (like me), then fasted cardio isn't going to do harm. In fact, it's probably going to help you burn fat. If you're an ecto or pure meso trying to cut after a bulk, probably a good idea to eat at least some sort of aminos beforehand.
