I'll take this one for you...
sneakers have a life of 300-600 miles depending on your weight and how hard you tread. you are obviously on the low end of the weight scale (there are 300 and 400 pound people out there wearing shoes, they are the ones who really "crush" a midsole and wear them down fast), but i dont' know how you tread. I tread very lightly-- when I walk it doesn't make a sound, and i walk on my toes and the outside of my feet. So I can get about 600 miles out of a shoe.
Now, that 600 miles includes EVERYTHING you do in the shoe. So if I run 8 miles in it, walk to class (2.5 miles), walk to the gym (1.0 miles), workout at the gym in it (I'll convert using my favorite 6:1 converter-- 6 minutes of gym time = 1 minute of running time, so a 1 hour workout, that's about another 1.5 miles or so, give or take) then I walk back home (3.0 miles) then on that day I have put roughly 16 miles on my shoes.
I don't keep very good track of it, but because of my wear patterns I replace my shoes 1x every 2 months (thank God I worked in shoes for 8 years... I have connections to keep it cheap!). Generally do not go more than 4 months without replacing. YOu need to keep a good firm midsole to help protect your spine!
