New Name~New Life~Fresh Start
Hi everyone! It has been about forever since I have actively posted. And a lot has happened. I got married recently, which, is a pretty big deal. I moved into his 650sq feet apartment. I think I brought about 300 sq ft of workout equipment and things with me... hehe. Just kidding, but really- it's tight.
I have to put my past behind me now. I am incredibly great at dropping off the edge of the earth and no one hears from me for months. I need the community and support everyone gives here. I still struggle with my own fitness goals and eating habits. I notice I am much more healthy when I am regularly visiting this site. I don't get those skinny ideals in my head as much... media is mind warping.
My stats of now:
5'2
129lbs
Body fat 21%
Goal Body Fat 15-16%
Basically, my goal is to see my arm muscle more clearly- especially in the tricep/shoulder area. I have no definition there because of stubborn fat. Oh yea, and to see my abs.

Hello and welcome back. In my opinion, using approximately half of the living space for workout equipment is a perfectly acceptable ratio

Haha! I am glad he is ok with it. He knows when I get my job I will be getting all kinds of stuff. Cardio stuff at least. I like the gym for weights.

Hi Lou! I know! We both know that and as of now we are running into complications of getting married and me finishing school. Hubby has a business that is basically an energy audit business for houses. Then we fix the problems which might be in the attic (ductwork for the a/c), or holes within the house letting in a lot of air.
So basically I am doing that with him. It is tough though, because it is just us up in the attic. We really need a crew to go with us and do the attic stuff in 30 mins. It's just too hot. So it has come to... hold of the business for a bit and get a job until we have more money to put into the business. ugh.
Well that was kind of a long explanation! It is currently what is on my mind right now.
Alright. going to do chest and tris before I head to school. Cardio will probably be at school. I have a 4 hour gap between two classes on Wednesdays.

Happy Wedding and Moving and Returning!
You are 23 and like Sweet Potatoes? Sounds like a cool person to me
Saw your post in T's journal about hubby going back for MBA-- if I can give opinion, getting an MBA is a great choice. Lots of schools offer assistantships, and I will be the first to say that as a grad assistant you make about the same as you do in an entry level business job plus you get school for free. It's a win-win, especially for you, because heck with an MBA even if he has to take out loans, he'll have those paid pack within his first few years of work.
I don't know much about Texas or I'd send you a few ideas of schools... but if you come to the East coast for some reason I can give you some recs.

Holy Cow! I love you! ok I got excited but that never occurred to us. I mentioned it to hubby and he is sounding interested. So we may be going to Houston! Plus, they have a great dietetics program and I am pretty interested in it. So lots of job opportunities there for me and hubby knows people in the University so hopefully admissions won't be too bad...
I want to get my spin cert anyway so now would be great. I want to find a gym there to teach spin so I can get a free membership for hubby and I. Before I get certified, I'll need to check with some of the gyms to see if I would be useful to them anyway. Plus, I call whoever is certifying, and say I am a full time Kines student. you would be surprised what deals they can make for you Which is soo nice.
Well thanks again LionChick! I really need a shower and I'll be back to post diet and workouts. I broke down this evening and had a piece of toast and almond butter with a bit of honey. I was starving man. I did have two workouts today though. Plus its TOM. boooo

Food(lets see what i remember):
ezk toast w/ jam (before chest and tris)
brown rice with 1% milk and an egg
yogurt with whey (after cardio)
meat loaf sandwich on ezk bread
handful almonds- throughout day
brown rice, cabbage, 1 egg white and 1 egg
coffee
toast with almond butter and drizzle of honey. I was starving dude. And this was better than eating a bunch of cookies!
Workout:
chest and tris (quick 20 min supersetted)
40 min cardio in between classes

I really think that this will be a good choice for you! I am glad to help!
The law degree + the MBA sounds like a KILLER combination. Heck with that kind of credentials you guys would be set for life!
A dietetics program would be very intersting, too. I knew a few dietetics students at UGA and they did some really cool studies, they got to use DEXA scanners and all that kind of stuff!
Keep me updated about what you guys choose to do! I've taken a law class before and it was very hard, but I learned SO MUCH. I can only imagine what someone in law and business school would learn!

He is so excited about this. Now we just get to figure out how to pay for everything! I think he likes the sound of law and MBA. haha. Plus, his B.S. was in Real Estate.
I am still up in the air about exactly what I want to do. I want whatever I go to school for to count. And while I am not completely focused on the income of the job, I want to keep it in mind. I love fitness and nutrition so that is why I am investigating dietetics. And in Dec. I'll have my Kinesiology degree. :sigh: Lots to think about...

Hi! Thanks for the congrats! I was starving yesterday so I know I ate more carbs and some peanut butter. Plus, its TOM. Ugh. I get hungry.
Today's workout:
15 min stairclimber warm up
Smith machine lying single leg presses-50# 4x12
Squats- body weight- 3x20 reps
DB deadlift 24# total 3x15
Leg extension (wanted these to be burning so light weight) 35# 3x15
Lying leg curl 35# 3x15
Made a little circuit: jog up stairs, lunge down hallway, jog back butt kicking. Like, jogging and butt kicks. Not kicking butt jogging. Right well I did that 3 times
Calves 80# 2 or 3... forgotx12
Food:
1: 1 egg 3 whites, 1/2c oats
2: 1/2 piece bran bread (ezk) with apple butter
3: PWO- 2 scoops PP with 1/2c milk, 1/4c pinto beans-they looked good and fibery!
4: TBD
5: TBD
Life:
So I am signed up to get my Spinning cert. I am excited about that. It looks like Houston is a big possibility in Jan, so I wanted something simple that could possibly get my husband and I a free gym membership It's hilarious that I am getting that done so our gym problem is covered. Plus, our gym membership ends in October.... and we thought it ended in November. I am probably going to go complain to someone about that.
Alright, well, I want to browse some journals and I should clean the apartment. It may be small but it is a mess! We don't have enough space for everything!

Spin after leg day
Bad Idea. Don't know why I HAD to do this but gosh! I am feeling it now! I miss most spin classes during the week but I think that should change now that my schedule is back on track.
Ate really well today. Didn't feel the need to go overboard on carbs. I am really trying to cut back to 100 a day and then up them every 3rd day or so. Kind of the Cut diet (1500).
I am pooped. I'll be back tomorrow. And I really need to find a desk. My back starts hurting sitting on the floor all the time.

Spinning is a wierd thing you know. Most people look into the studio and watch people sweating and almost dying on a stationary bike and think "wtf? why would anyone want to do that"? haha. One day I ventured in and then went back for a second class.

Thanks Tara! I think it will really help me. I have been holding steady at 129 for awhile now. I need a kick in the butt!
Sunday's Workout
Pull ups 5x5 with 58#s of help
Lat pulldowns 3x12 #4
Seated row #4,#5 3x10
1 arm bent over row- 15#, 20# 3x12
Bent over row 40# 2x12
Spinning- intense- 30 mins. I was testing some new songs and getting ready for my cert coming up! I need to build up my endurance.
I'll post today's workout later. I have felt so blah today. All headachey and stuff. Sometimes that happens right after that TOM. I am also on the Ring, btw. I know birth control affects some people. The pills made me feel bloated and yuck. Plus, I was never in the mood you know. That's no good.
Anyway, I should try to get something done since it is 5pm and I have done absolutely nothing all day. A workout would be nice.

Has the ring brought back your sex drive?? Not trying to get too personal or anything...lol
Seriously I know many women on here have lost their drive due to BC...

Hi! Congrats on the marriage.
I know what you mean about the spin class. When I had a gym membership I went to one, it royally kicked my butt, and I just kept going back. Never thought I'd like it, but a friend naged me to go. lol

Haha its cool. I don't notice any hormonal interferences with the ring. I am like a clock without birth control. I know my best week(wink wink- I am ovulating), and my blah week- the week before my period that I am more hormonal.
The ring hasn't messed with my natural cycle and drive at all. Just a warning though- it can be a little irritating the first few months. I actually had a yeast infection and freaked out. It can feel yeasty before your TOM also until your body gets used to it. I actually started the ring 5 months before we got married so I had time to adjust. You just kind of have to ride out the side effects unless they are really bad or annoying. It is really so simple though- you don't have to think about it for 3 weeks!
And btw- the question we are all wondering about : does he feel it? Not at all
Ok I might have gotten too personal. haha. Birth control sucks and WE have to take it! As if we don't have enough hormonal problems as it is!

Thank you! I can't wait for my class or two a week! Sometimes I scout out other gyms that I can just drop into a good class

Just a note for myself:
No workout yesterday... hubby and I forgot the freaking gym closed early for labor day. Ugh. He was so ready to play bball too and I was getting excited about a shoulder workout. So I will do that today and my own spin workout. need to test new music anyway.

Busy 2nd week of school! Plus it has been an emotional rollercoster. I mean right now, for once, everything feels calm. Hubby is playing the guitar, I'm not stressed out, and the dog is chewing on her bone. We are dog sitting until Tues. My parents wanted to take a short trip, so here we are camped out at a house.
Hubby has been back and forth about the law thing all week. He keeps wanting to work on his business, and keep that going but there is one huge problem right now: money. We need to pay rent.
And the whole week it just hit me that I am not sure about my life purpose and where I want to go. I love fitness, but I know I don't want to be a trainer my whole life. I also am really interested in nutrition, but is a registered dietician really what I want to do? So I am actually going to Cooper Aerobics to talk to their RD and see everything she does. I mean I want options. I want to talk to highschool students about food choices. I want to educate people. And I want to still be a part of the fitness-nutrition community.
I always think in the back of my mind- well gosh, what about the money? But this is something I love and I think I could work at it from all angles really. I have to finish some classes first, then get into the program. During all of that I guess I will be training. Hopefully I can find a place that I have some steady morning clients or something. Because that will probably be when I am available.
I have had a couple days off of workouts. I ran into a wall with my elbow really hard the other day when I was running out the door to school. I mean HARD! I was gathering up my mane elbows out to the side and just BAM- into the wall. Bent elbow and all. I think it is just bruised up. I guess it would be kind of like hitting your knee while it was in bent condition. You could screw up cartilage. Anyway. Cant bear weight on my left arm. No over head tricep presses anytime soon.
Spin tomorrow! I need it!

Hey cottage cheese buddy!
Wow, sounds like there's a lot on your plate at the moment. But great that you're taking steps towards finding what's right for you and opening doors. Best of luck
Hope the elbow gets well soon- there's NOTHING funny about funny bone pain....

Hey there...have a great weekend! You're so young, you've got tons of possibilities! I wish I would have known earlier that I would love fitness...I just kind of went into something and now I feel kind of stuck!

OUCH!! on the elbow I hope it recovers soon.
I hear you on the life choices thing. I've been, and kind of still am, in that type of a position. It's so hard to settle on one thing when you've got multiple interests, and can't know fully what it will be like until you've committed time and money towards it. I second guess myself and my chosen path all the time. I think that's just a given when we're going through big life changes. Talking with and RD is a great idea. Perhaps he/she would even allow you to shadow them for a bit?

Youch! Sorry to hear about that elbow!
You sure do have a lot going on right now. But, it sounds like you're giving your options a lot of thought, so be confident that you will make the right decisions for yourself.
Take care and good luck!!
