Update on Cena (post operation)
STAMFORD, Conn. ? WWE Superstar John Cena is temporarily out of action with a herniated disc in his neck.
UPDATE: WWE.com has learned that Cena's procedure was successful and that Dr. Joseph Maroon, renowned neurosurgeon, Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Team Neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers.was very positive about Cena's condition.
?We performed a microsurgical removal of a large disk fragment compression on the spinal cord which was weakening the nerve leading to the right arm," Dr. Maroon told WWE.com shortly after the operation. "We created a small incision in the front of the neck using an operating microscope to remove the fragment from the spinal cord and nerve. The operation took approximately an hour and a half.
"I think John?s prognosis is excellent," he added. "He should be able to return to wrestling in two to four months. John will be working out next week. We performed this same procedure on three all pro NFL players; and all three resumed their football careers.?
Please check back later with WWE.COM as we plan another interview with Dr. Maroon following John Cena?s post-surgical recovery treatment.
Cena's injury was the horrific outcome of a high impact Batista Bomb that caught an airborne Cena off the top rope at SummerSlam, resulting in numbness in his right arm and extensive pain in his shoulder. (Watch footage of Cena's injury at SummerSlam)
?You can either do one of two things: be upset or know what you can do to get better,? said former WWE Champion Cena prior to the surgery. ?The ultimate goal is to be as strong as I can and get back into the ring as soon as possible.?

Return in 3 to 4 months? So much for the year we all guessed. Good for him.
Sound like a work now? Maybe covering up a suspension, perhaps? lol

How the hell does that sound like a work? Why would they get quotes from some high paid neurosurgeon just to cover something up?

2-4 months? LOL so much for missing WM25!
Good to hear its not as bad as expected, although hopefully he doesnt push himself back too early from it, as that could do more bad than good.

I never doubted the injury itself or the operation. I'm saying, much like the Orton thing, it could possibly be a work. It's good because it's gotten to the point to where we almost never know for sure unless we do some extensive research.
As I said, I believed from the get go it was legit; Some people in the other threads were saying it may be a work to throw us off. Then it's reported that he'll be back in 3 to 4 months.
In unrelated bit, why would they send him to Dr. Maroon as opposed to Youngblood who works on most of them? But then again Angle went to Dr. Jho, and he was back quicker, so who knows. Regardless, I hope he doesn't push himself too much to return too quickly.

are people really that stupid to think its a work???
ONCE AN INJURY IS REPORTED ON AN UNAFILLIATED WRESTLING RUMOR SITE, IT IS NOT A WORK. THE WWE WONT USE A RANDOM INTERNET SITE TO TRY TO FAKE INJURIES

Neurosurgeon of the Pittsburgh Steelers?
Um...I hope Cena recovers considering his operation was performed by a second-rated doctor. I don't trust Pittsburgh people as far as I can throw them.
Cleveland Clinic FTW!

i wouldn't, taker and HHH will be in the two main matches (most likely title) IF they are fit, that leaves everyone else scrambling for the other positions, batista was at the bottom of the card last year so except him to be high up this time around

Just so y'all know, the article on WWE.com has changed. It no longer says (I can't confirm it did at all, but chisle is certainly someone I trust) that Cena will be back in 2-4 months. I don't know if something changed or if they just don't want to put a timetable on it in case of a setback or something.
Whatever the case, I hope Cena is great.

Yeah, it appears as if they have edited it. It now says that he can start resistance training in four to six weeks, as opposed to the original article that was posted that stated he could start training again next week. Either way, I'm glad the surgery was a success.

I think they want to make it a surprise when he comes back like last year.
Good for Cena tho, if that surgery had to be fusion, that could changed his career forever!
