"You come at the king, you best not miss." -Omar Little
sorry, but i had to bunk this thread
just finished the wire a week ago, and i'm still thinking about it nonstop. I cant fully explain how good this series is, but some reviewer said it best when he said (paraphrasing), "My wife asked me why I was so angered and in the verge of tears. I told her that Bodie, my favorite drug dealer, just died."
There's a reason why Obama, imdb, and yes Alan Moore all agree that this is the best show ever. Season 2 was actually one of my favorite seasons, despite being a bit confused at the abundance of new characters in a whole new setting. This was an extremely bold choice by the staff, but it all played out very well in the end. I hated Ziggy so badly at first, but grew to sympathize with him by the time of his downfall. As for season 5, I agree that it was their worst season cause of the "serial killer" storyline, but it had the best moments and wrapped up very well. I'd have to rank my favorite seasons as 3, 1, 2, 4, then 5, but they were all amazing and together they equate as the perfect series.
Also, with so many characters and wonderful writing/directing, there's always a problem of naming a "favorite character." For me, it changed from McNulty to Lester to Bunk to Omar to Stringer Bell...and that was just in the first season alone.
Anyways, i could go on and on about this but i'll stop here. I need to find a "wire recovery" forum or something to cope. all part of the game though, right?
oh, and i thought this was kinda cool:

awesome show, i watched that before getting into the wire. a few years ago, gamestop had this "buy 2, get 1 free" deal, and they had oz seasons 3 & 4, and the wire season 1...so i got those three cause they were, as all hbo shows are, very expensive [douglas, guffaw]. but tbh, the fast-pace of oz left me kinda bored with the wire...almost 3 years later, i finally started watching the wire again and now i'm in agreement with every other person who says that the wire is the greatest show ever.
oh, and bodie, who was one of my favorite characters in the wire, was actually my least favorite in Oz (kenny).

Oz was great.
The Wire? Definitely - by far - the best series ever.
A lot of people didn't like season 2, but I loved it. Coming from blue collar, hard working, union family, it seemed extremely accurate.
Also love how they show the ugly truth to the "No Child Left Behind" bull****.
Oh and RIP to Stringer Bell.**New Jersey Crew 201**
