The one arm push-up....
OMG! I can max out the army PT test, doing over 100 push ups in 2 mins but my one arm push up...SUCKS! (for lack of better words)
I've been watching videos and I notice that in some routines, some the girls lean to the side instead of keeping their body straight in front. Is that okay? I can do a couple of one-arms that way but it looks like "cheating".
ANY advice is appreciated!!! Thank you!

It all depends on how much you want to challenge yourself, although a lot of people do think it's "cheating" to go to the side. In all honesty, as you practice the strength moves and get closer to show, they will come easily. I just did a show this weekend and my routine had pretty slow one-armed pushups. I really didn't want to bounce or to look like I was taking the easy route by going to the side. At first it was tough, but by show day they were on point. The video is on my profile page. I would work on them during routine practice and then also supersetted them in with my chest workout. Make sure you practice them on both sides so you develop evenly!
A few ways of making them easier while you get them down are to start with them at an incline (you can use a bench or a smith machine bar) and get down the full range of motion that way. Once it becomes easy, move closer to the floor (that's when the smith machine comes in handy). Also, try spreading your legs wide until you get it down, and then bring them closer together as you progress.
Good luck!

Hey SuziCue! I hear you on the pushups. I also could max out the army pt test and beat the boys but it took me awhile to master those pushups. I would recommend finding someone who knows how to do them and watch and learn. Also, it may be a good idea to find a video that teaches fitness skills as they explain pretty well how to learn how to do them. Good luck!
