Aches and Pains
My shoulders hurt all the time, my hands hurt, my back aches... For some reason my legs ache all the time too.
I'm not trying to sound like a baby, but is this the way it's gonna be for the rest of my life?
Just would like some experiences any of you have had and what you've done or are doing to make things a little easier.
Thanks

I dont know your history so its hard to say. Are you new to lifting?
For me my life is like this.
Lifting day feel good -
Next day a bit sore - bit tired
The following day - great for the next set of muscles to be worked but the previous ones have DOMs and so on...
I actually like DOMs only in that I feel reassured that I worked hard (dont jump on me here guys I know DOMs are not required for growth!) and I have good days and bad days with aches etc. But overall I am fitter, stronger, faster and way healthier than I would be if I didnt train so its no bother to me.

I'm feeling a little worn today. I started my power cycle on Saturday and did my to biggest splits in terms of large combos Saturday and yesterday.
Feels good though...

I'm sorry, I should have seen that coming.
I've lifted for years, I've always enjoyed DOMS, but I've learned that I don't have to feel the pain to get the gain
Mine are just joint pains, perhaps arthritis related as my family has a history of it. My back is probably from my bed.
I know this is a broad subject, just wanted to hear from others who experience the same.

Compound 3 times a week, light weight after a lay off to see if aches would go away. They didn't!

Thanks for sharing. I am the same way. Shoulders hurt a lot. Have a tough time doing bench sometimes. Back hurts and can't go very heavy with squats and deadlifts. Hip joint was really hurting bad last week. When I got down to 6% BF I could hardly workout because my joints hurt so bad.
I love the feeling of DOMS but don't like the aches and pains in the joints. I am thinking about upping my fish oil and starting to do Glucosamine and Chondroitin.
I would love hear from more 35+ guys to tell me what they do to lessen joint pain.

Animal Flex! Best stuff I've ever tried for joints.
I joke with my wife the next day after back day that being healthy has me walking like a 90-year-old...

I had chronic shoulder pain for years... started taking (several yrs ago) Glucosamine 2 tab 3x a day with 4 fish/4 flax oil caps 2x. Pain is all but non existant now. Currently I only take it 2 tab 2x a day, oil caps are the same dosage. But if I run out and don't take it for a week... it starts to act up again. Needless to say I don't routinely let that happen.
I'm big into multi joint lifts... squats, dead, cleans and lunges. Don't have any issuse with back or knees. Still go pretty heavy too, I think the above mentioned helps out.
A good bed and a good nights rest is also helpful... I toss and turn and so does my gal. We recently purchased a tempur-pedic bed set. It was a bit spendy. But we are both very happy we spent the extra coin. I can roll over and it doesn't shake the whole house. The foam absorbs all the motion. I often wake up in the same position I fell asleep in.

I definitely be starting up glucosamine and fish oil as soon as I can. Thanks for the advice.

I couldn't agree more.
I spent more money on a good quality matress on the advice of a friend about 5 years ago. Normally I would have thought I was insane to spend as much as I did, but I have to say it's one of the best things I have ever done.
If I've had a bad night it's usually because of me, not the bed.
The better rest you get the easier it is for your body to recover, after all it's really the only time it gets to repair itself.

I agree that my bed is probably my worst enemy. But alas, I'm not really in a position to get a posturpedic.
I've been taking Animal Flex for the past couple of weeks and I've taken fish oil for a while now. I know the fish oil has helped tremendously.
I just wish I could lift as I once did. It is truly humbling to get into a gym and work out with weights I once considered only a waste of time!
Thanks guys for all the replies, reps all around.

I absolutely agree. With mattresses, it's like anything else-you get what you pay for. A great night's sleep every night is tough to put a price on.

My hands ache alot, as I said probably arthritis. Shoulders too. It's been this way for a long time. But that's a Good idea, I'll make an appointment soon.
Will a standard blood run up work or do I need to specify anything? My last blood work was done last summer, nothing out of the ordinary there.

Tell your PC your symptoms and how long you've had them for he should know what test to run.

OK, I always hesitate to tell the doc every little thing as the list is pretty substantial by now!

Update:
I've been taking Animal Flex for over a year now and joint issues are minimal. My shoulder bothers me sometimes but it is not debilitating as it used to be.
I am now doing a 3 day split from ironaddict that I enjoy and I am almost as strong on some lifts, as strong on others, and stronger on some.
Animal Flex has helped a lot!

i allways have some kind of joint pain in the hands elbows and shoulders. i blame it on years of football, racing dirt bikes (and crashing) and many years or weight lifting. im thinking some of my aches and pains are arthritis related as it also runs in the family. the pain dose limit my strenght sometimes but i allways try to push through it. i may try some fish oil before i tell the doc.

I'm another Animal Flex guy. My Animal Flex plus an Aleve every morning keeps me going. Plus the Animal Flex packets cost maybe 60 cents per day. Arthritis runs in my family so I'm always aware that I may get a flare-up once in awhile but things are going well for me.
Glad to hear you are doing better!

I always kinda figured that aches and pains are just part of the game. But not to that extent. My broscience opinion is that youre doing something wrong or not doing something you should be. Informative, huh?
