Here come the "poor me's". "Nobody will live like I think they should so must they hate me." What is this? Fourth grade? If you could live and let live, like the rest of us, we'd all be much happier.

To the OP I don't think it's hate but defensivness although to us we don't see the things we do as Christians as being offensive orurting atheists they see some of those things different.

In north america Christians have been in power for a long time and there are many things in place that constantly seem forced on atheists from their perspective.

eg/ Prayer in school

Christian sees a good thing helping kids learn to be loyal to God.

Atheist sees it as religious majority forcing Jesus on them.

Also I don't know about now but when I was a kid if one of the other kids said I am not going to pray cause I don't believe in God he would get picked on for sure.

Not to mention what the parents would tell their kids if they heard about it. I think we are more aware now and wouldn't be as bad but I don't know for sure.

I think open communication and time will work things out in the long run

What? Admittedly I've not been on the BB.com Religion/Politics forums recently, but I've see been roaming the net. The general consensus is Christf.a.g.s. = idiots and Atheistf.a.g.s. = smart and enlightened. If you are one of the few Atheistf.a.g.s. who don't give ****, this question isn't for you. And no, no Poor me. I've never experienced any hate in real life, but online where you are basically anonymous, it's rampant.

Um. . .the christian voting block in the U.S put bush in power. . .twice.

There are preists telling Africians not to use condoms because they are evil. . .thus helping them get aids and dying.

As a group on the whole you have faught many social and scientific break thoughs. . .and still do to this day. Like the world circling the sun. . .faught for slavery. Now you fight evolution and gay rights.

That said I personally don't hate christians. But you do and have hurt the world as a group.

I'm just annoyed you can't see how foolish your believes are and are so morally schewed you don't even see what it is that you are doing that is wrong.

On a personal level. I dislike that my more religious family members would probably shoot me in the head if for some reason God thought it was a good idea. I'm real and family. . .I should be more important than a fantasy. Plus when I had my son and decided not to baptise I had to listen to a whole lot of whinning and complaining about it and even threats from family(those couple I don't speak to anymore as a result). And I still have to listen to "why won't you reconsider?" and "we're going to baptize him behind your back" and he's 5 months old now.

But I don't hate christians. You're just mislead, and a little ignorant. I can't seriously consider holding that type of thing against any individuals. That's just foolish. On the Whole most christians care as little about religion as I do.

P.S: Most atheists have almost no issues with religious groups in general. I'm probably an extremely antireligious person as far as that goes. And even I don't really care if you want to believe in allah or god or invisable pink unicorns. We'll just make progress the hard way. You haven't stopped us before.

But..... I'm a libertarian Christan who doesn't like Bush, doesn't care one way or the other about Gay Rights, and I've never been baptized. I'm no Catholic, but I do believe Jesus is Christ and died for us. I guess on the net, all Christians are lumped into the bible thumping "kill anyone who wont convert" crowd?

Your asuming atheists on the whole hate christians. That's not even true.

At least more I'm right the christians on the whole voted for bush. definately well over 50%

Most christians aren't they kind that tell africians to not wear condoms. But they think that you support them. Just by being a christian like they are. You help them justify themselves. They are part of the largest religion in the world.

This is the big problem with both sides atheists assume Christians are all out to tell them who they can and can't marry and as the title of your thread shows Christians do it to atheists too. You assumed all atheists out here hate Atheists. Open dialog is the key and mutual respect but the internetz can help or hurt that possibility.

I'm just pointing out some negatives just to encourage the discussion.

Only thing I actually assume/think Theists do as a group is believe stuff by either ignoring or not thinking about things that contradict the beliefs.

Individuals in the Christian church encouraging africians to put themselves at risk of aids. . .or malesting young boys. Really doesn't reflect on anyone but those individuals responsible. But if you're wondering why atheists(or anyother group for that matter) might hate you it's going to be because they are falsely grouping you together. That's pretty much how hate works for any group whether it is a religion, race, culture, or sex.

IMO, they hate the hypocrisy Christianity represents. The discrimination against women and homosexuals in particular sanctioned by their God, all the while preaching how much we should all love one another.

Good topic. I think you might be a bit mislead with your discrimination claims tho. I love women and think they should have every right as another human, as do gays. I may not agree with the gay lifestyle, but I do agree with the line "Love the sinner, but hate the sin."

I've actually kind of liked some of bush's moves in years 6-8 before that not so much.

Did you vote for him twice? I'm not americian but at the time I cant imagine i'd be able to vote for him a second time. But Kerry did mess up fairly bad in the campains.

I only threw that comment in because it was on CNN today. Around 70% of highly religious christians voted for him. McCain only has 54 percent of that group right now.

What's with the 'f.a.g' bit? As someone who never experienced any hate in real life, you come across as a bit hateful yourself.

i dislike christians who try to push their beliefs on me. I dont mind them trying to convert me. That's not what im talking about. Im talking about things like stem cell research, foreign policy decisions, abortion issues, etc etc etc.

Other than that i completely support any religions choice a person chooses to make. Because i do think that it is much more important to be happy, than to be right. (as long as you aren't hurting anyone). But for those who do seek truth along with happiness i just cant help but debate. and ass in any debate/argument sometimes things get a little carried away.
