Stale Exercise In Routine..?

I've been progressively going up in weight in each area of my training which is awesome but I seem to have hit a plateau with my barbell rows at about 50#. My boyfriend suggested it may be a "stale" exercise for me and to try a different back exercise in that part of my routine.

What do you think? Should I just keep working 50-55# until I eventually bust out or do a new exercise?

change up the rep scheme a little. try increasing weight but do it with less reps, or vice versa. i wouldn't give it up just yet.

It might

It might be a good idea to change to a different lift that works the same muscle group. But before you do that you have to consider whether it would be a better idea to change the sets/reps that you are currently doing. Sometimes a change here can get you going again. And you must also look at rest, maybe you are performing too many different types of lifts and need to cut back or maybe you just need 5-10 days off before you restart. You can't just continual lift but will get better results if you take a rest period from time to time and then build back up.

I always switch up the exercises with every workout. Alt DB rows, bent over cable rows, hammer strength low rows, T bar rows...play around with the weights and the reps...you'll be out of the plateau in no time!
