Toews gets 2, Ladd 1, Sharp 1 and empty netter by Bolland.
Just for the record I'm never right when I guess who scores.
I think the slaughter in Game 4 was due to all the sought after retribution for the Havlat hit. Hopefully they're settled down and keep their feet moving tonight. If the Hawks play their game and stay out of the box they'll win.

Again, Networks will want both series over so the game will go to detroit. If the canes wouldn't have gotten swept, then hawks get tonights game to stretch the series to the network game on Sat.
Plus, NHL doesn't want a super rested Pengs against a tired wangs. Makes their job harder.
We'll prolly see another 56 hawk PIMS to 10 wang PIMS again like game 4. And what the hell, a disallowed hawk goal if the outcome is in question.Last edited by Viking22; 05-27-2009 at 10:57 AM.

If Detroit beats Chicago tonight, they'd only be getting 2 days rest.
According to multiple sources, if the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings can wrap up their respective Conference final series by Wednesday night, the Stanley Cup finals likely would start on Saturday, May 30 in Detroit. In this scenario, Game 2 would be played on Sunday, May 31.
This is a change from a May 22 press release from the league that indicated that the championship series would begin on Friday, June 5, if both Conference final series didn't end in four-game sweeps.
The Penguins can close out their series with a victory over the Hurricanes in Raleigh on Tuesday night. The defending champion Red Wings, meanwhile, have positioned themselves to advance with a win over the Blackhawks on Wednesday in Detroit.
For the past several days, the league has been working behind the scenes with NBC, which has limited prime time real estate to devote to the Cup finals due to important "sweeps" week programming and the Tonight Show re-launch with new host Conan O'Brien.
The possible change would spare the league an embarrassing, television-created, eight-day hiatus and the competitive nature of the playoffs wouldn't be compromised by an unusually long layoff for both clubs.

"NHL set to switch gears and begin championship series this weekend if Detroit and Pittsburgh win in five games.
The NHL had a change of heart about the Stanley Cup final schedule, which now looks set to start on Saturday instead of June 5, as long as both conference finals end this week.
Previously, the NHL had said the final would not start until June 5 even if the conference finals ended earlier. That left the possibility of a 10-day layoff for the Pittsburgh Penguins if they finished off the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night. And if the Detroit Red Wings win the Western Conference final on Wednesday, that would leave a long stretch of dark nights.
Compounding this was the NHL's desire to accommodate the NBC television network by having the first two games back-to-back on June 5 and 6.
At this point, it looks like the first two games will still be back-to-back, on Saturday and Sunday, but the final will start much earlier.
NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly acknowledged in an e-mail message that a change is under way but added the arrangements have not been finalized."

Sooo, with all this work being done, do you think they're going to let the hawks muck it all up by winning a couple games?
The NHL has essentially announced the SC finals and game dates without the Conference finals being over yet.
God this is worse than NBA. This is pro wrestling!!!Last edited by Viking22; 05-27-2009 at 12:37 PM.

Detroit doesn't do pick plays, don't be mad your hawks are gunna lose and blame it on detroit being the team who does pick plays lol, out of anyone you pick the wings?? its called controlling the puck and no one in the league can move the puck like the wings also how amazing their cycle is.
Detroit wins tonights game 5-2 you read it here.

Huh? Even the guys on NBC were mentioning it every time it happened. Watch Filppula's goal in the last game. Hossa sets a pick on Pahlsson and just stops right in front of him til the puck gets by, and then gets himself open for an assist. He's blatantly impeding an opposing player's progress from getting to the puck. I can't find a clip of it anywhere online, or at least not a decent angle. They do it all the time.

I know they say scoring is the new trend...but with the Pens/Canes series I'd say it was Fleury and defense that won this series.
Only one game in Carolina was over 2 goals.
Itll be interesting to see the rematch (if Detroit makes it and I imagine they will).
Penguins better not start slow like they did last year...scoring will matter against Detroit.
