That was a heartbreaker for the Canes. They still played like the game was tied but such a soft goal had to take a toll on them mentally.

Kane is a smaller player with more points in 2 seasons than Franzen has in 4, is younger, less experienced and in his first playoffs is second on his team with 13 points. He's an undersized player than has to use his skill rather than size to get to the net.

Plus, there's a reason Franzen has the nickname 'the mule'. It's because he gets a lot of 'garbage' goals, rushing the net and sticking it in from there (nothing wrong with it, just easier to get, especially if you're big like Franzen). Also because he works crazy hard, no doubt about that.

BTW, I just watched all of his playoff goals this year, all but two were him either being fed the puck and shooting it in from close in the slot (if you can't score in that position, you don't deserve to play in the NHL) or smacking it in from close to the crease. That being said, those two goals were very impressive that he did score, because like I said previously, he is a great player.

Stop being such a homer and look at it from the perspective of how young and undersized Kane is compared to Franzen and the numbers he puts up. Quite impressive.

Kane also played a hell of a lot more minutes then Franzen did his first year in the playoffs not to mention games aswell (1st liner vs a 3rd/4th), so i don't understand why your taking it back then, its whats happening THESE PLAYOFFS and Franzen has out performed him big time. Franzens last goal was a 44ft top cheese unassisted, 2nd last goal was his wrap around once again unassisted, 3rd last was an amazing tip in nowhere near garbage, then came his amazing top cheese snipe off the crossbar cutting in from the boards and wiring it from 42ft out, next came his goal from behind the hashmarks wiring it five hole on hiller, then 2 shifts later making another nice deflection from a shot from the point. i'm going to just stop there considering his last 6 goals were all either shots he took that where in the top corner or nice deflections and nowhere near garbage goals for any of them. Also Kane is -10 while Franzen is +10

I do agree with you on Franzen's talent / worth but just thought I'd mention that Crosby didn't play like **** in last years playoffs. He ended up tied with Zetterberg for most points. (rank 1 - 27 points).

Who knows what he'll be like in the future but thats the future not the present and what we were talking about was who would you rather have on your team for these playoffs not 5 years from now. He's on the ice with good players he should have a decent plus minus, and if so offensively talented should be able to score even strength.

Ummm noo the teams have been focusing on Franzen the most out of anyone on the team, so no hes not getting better chances because of that its because he's so fast don't know if you know that or not, and no half the time he's not being fed the puck its him skating in with it against the boards then cutting in at a 90 degree angle and roofing it so wrong again. Your saying a line consisting of toews kane and havlat or sharp and with campbell barker keith and seabrook isn't talented? One bad playoffs doesn't mean jack **** its how well hes played consecutively the last 2 playoffs and how he has been one of the top players both playoffs, look at crosby last year would you say kane's better then him because crosby played **** last years playoffs? How can you guarantee kane is going to have a better playoff record then Franzen, no one does, the last 2 years combined he's been the best player in the playoffs. Plus kane is going to get laid out in the next couple years he's tiny and don't say he won't get hit because he has so much awareness because it happens and it could hinder how well he plays, who knows if he even makes it to 29. Unfotunately, it is over. Give aging wings glory and keep young hawks hungry. It's a money game and their milking the cash cows while they can while developing the next cash cow. I thought they'd give the hawks the win tonight to stretch the series, but now that the Pens have won, the networks will want hawks/wings series over now too. Besides, giving the pens extra days of rest will just make sticking to the script that much harder on the refs.

And for the Pens fans....you're not going to like the "script" for the finals.

I don't buy into the conspiracy theory about it all being scripted but that's one thing that bothers me about the Wings. They get away with pick plays all the time. I spot a handful of them every game. The Nucks do this too, mainly the Sedins and I remember once they got called on it and Henrik was furious.

If the refs aren't going to enforce it as a form of interference then just make it legal and let everyone do it. Calling it every now and then is just annoying.
