That's exactly what it was. Those two killed any chance of gaining momentum every time they were out there by pulling stupid **** for no good reason. It was ridiculous and I hope as time goes on Toews doesn't sit back with his "lead by example" attitude and instead gets in some of these player's faces and tells them to man up and not pull this crap.
I don't mind a loss, but not like that.

This series is going pretty much exactly how I thought. This is a good thing overall for the Hawks though IMO. They're learing a lot here.
Wings - Pens rematch will be great though. Almost guaranteed of 7 games with that one.

Because it wasn't.
The team that faced the Canucks had a Stanley Cup winning goaltender in net and arguably one of the best playmakers the league has to offer on one of the most offensively dangerous lines the Hawks have had all year. Without those two and the fact that there was a Hawk in the box half the game (some penalties were definitely deserved and some questionable at very best) then yeah it didn't look like the same team at all.
Since Chicago never seems to call it quits I'm curious to see how the guys come out playing for Game 5.

It's scary to think that's the #1 goalie for Chicago next year.

Honestly if the next game is it for them I still couldn't be a prouder fan. These guys have gone above and beyond and next season they're just going to be better for it. I've been watching this team since I was 9 and the 07/08 season was the first one in a long time where I really felt some potential chemistry for the makings of a team that could really go far. A year later here they are in the conference finals.
There's a reason why Detroit are the defending champions. No shame in losing to the best.
I actually have faith in Huet but throwing him into the mix ice cold against a team like Detroit is a little much.Last edited by Monkey Helmet; 05-24-2009 at 07:21 PM.

They might as well put Crawford in net if Khabi doesn't come back.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but if Crosby gets 6 more goals, he'll hold the record for goals in a single postseason (20)

I was listening to Hockey Night in Canada on Sirius tonight and they were discussing this 2-day layoff in the series. They said that it's entirely NBC's call on when the games are played, not the NHL. NBC holds the tv rights to the playoffs, so they get the final say on when games are played. If both series are done by Wed, there could be an 8 day layoff before the finals if NBC chooses not to speed things along. It's scary to think how much control a TV network has over the game now.
If they introduce a shootout in the playoffs, it will be because of an American TV network, not the NHL. If the network wants to get the games over with so they can cut to the nightly news, there could very well be a shootout in a game 7 final someday. Scary stuff.New music and video up! www.daysleftmusic.com

It's already scheduled to start on June 5th, which would be an 8 day layoff like you mentioned. However, they were also talking about if both teams do in fact end it by Wednesday, then game 1 will be this Saturday, May 30th (NBC getting their game). Anything after Wednesday, then June 5th is it.

It seems to me that the refs are having waaaay to much of an impact on the outcomes of these games. I'm seeing so many make-up calls that I feel like I'm watching an NBA game.
The minute havlat got drilled and they sent Kronwall off, I said, "The hawks will spend most of the 2nd in the box. Bingo.
If half your calls are going to be make-up calls.....DONT CALL ANYTHING and at least let the players decide the game.
Tell me there wasn't an agenda in place to discourage the hawks from getting retribution in game 4 which happened to be on national TV. The hawks were dumb enough to not realize what was happening, but still, why even play these stupid little games. Just enforce the rules consistently.Green: It's the new Red

Oilers to name quinn coach, renney associate head coach
Oilers have a new head coach, Pat Quinn.
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=279979
The Edmonton Oilers have found their men.
Sources tell TSN Pat Quinn will be announced as the new head coach at a news conference later today with former Rangers coach Tom Renney being named an associate head coach.
The news conference is set for noon local time in Edmonton.
The move reunites Quinn and Renney with general manager Steve Tambellini from their days together with the Vancouver Canucks. Quinn worked as head coach and general manager for 11 seasons in Vancouver and was behind the bench from 1990 to 1996. Tambellini spent two decades working in Vancouver's front office before joining the Oilers last summer. Renney got his first NHL head coaching job with the Canucks in 1996.
Quinn becomes the ninth head coach in the Oilers' 30-year history, replacing Craig MacTavish, who was fired last month.
Quinn's first stint as an NHL coach came in 1978-79 with the Philadelphia Flyers and also worked behind the bench and in the front office with the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs.
He coached five seasons in Vancouver, winning the Jack Adams Award as coach of the year in 1992 and leading the team to the 1994 Stanley Cup final where they lost to the New York Rangers. He joined the Maple Leafs for the 1998-99 season and led the club to two straight appearances in the Eastern Conference Final.
Quinn was also coach of Canada's Olympic entry for Salt Lake City in 2002 and led the Canadian National Men's Hockey Team to gold, ending the team's 50-year drought. Two years later, he returned to coach Team Canada in the 2004 World Cup of Hockey leading them to a championship finish.
After his stint with the Maple Leafs, Quinn worked as Canada's national men's team coach for the 2006 Spengler Cup and led Canada to its fifth straight gold medal at the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship.Bump in the jeep go rah right

Just saw this LVI. I'm happy with this. Hopefully it works out. I'm just happy they've moved away from any ex-Oiler.
