    Naturally strong/athletic?

Most of us have to slave it out in training to see results of any significance.

Some people just have it easy.

There was this 16 year old boy who could slam dunk despite being only 1.73m/64kg.(280cm broad jump by the way)He could also flip a 270kg tire in his first attempt. Finally he did a first time 70kg farmers walk for around 20m.

He does not lift regularly at all,hit the gym sometimes to do some curls and bench with his friends...

Imagine if he trains properly for the next 5 years...

Anyone else you know seem to be naturally strong/athletic?

    Big time.
My best mate in fact. He has never worked out in his life. He used to run the 100m and 200m at various racing meets across the country. Was running sub 11 seconds when he was just 15 or so.

He has very big, muscular forearms that are just naturally like that. Basketball isn't played much in the UK but im certain he could slam dunk despite being a short guy like myself (about 5' 9" )

He's not interested in the whole gym thing but if he were to work out properly he would be an absolute beast.

Lucky to have good genetics, i guess....

    Talking

If I am not wrong, the vertical jump is a great way to assess natural athletic prowess. Being just 5'9 and yet being able to slam dunk speaks volumes about his lower body strength and power.

I remember reading somewhere that 1 out of 10,000 people has the genetic potential to be Mr Olympia/WSM but usually this one person doesn't lift at all...Isn't that ironic?

Only thing I can think of, are fat kids who could bench 175-185 first day into the gym freshman year. Though that is more nurture than nature. If your body weight is 220 and you are 5'11" chances are you can push more weight than 5'9" 125. Then of course there are the fast kids, but hey that's Mr. 5'9" 125's advantage.

Everyone else who was "naturally athletic" had been being active and doing football since middle school. So it was more training than higher base level of ability.

Two hands working do more than a thousand clasped in prayer.

Most of the problems with the bodies and minds of the folks occupying the current culture involve an unwillingness to do anything hard, or anything that they'd rather not do. I applaud your resolve, and I welcome you to the community of people who have decided that EASY will no longer suffice.

The human body is in an abnormal state when hard physical labor is removed from it's lifestyle.

Im not going to brag but if It wasent for the witnesses (some people actually told me stories about things I dont even remember doing) people wouldent believe how much weight I could put up when I started lifting.

Alas A lower back+shoulder injury translate to me not making any real progress with it until a few months ago.

Anyways I dont think natural strength has that great of a correlation to potential strength even if that seems like quite a contraversial statement.

i played football with this kid who was like a juvenile delinquent and had never played sports or worked out before in his life. he was about 230 and he deadlifted 585 about ten minutes after i showed him how for the first time. he also ran an electric-timed 40 yd dash in 4.59 seconds. he would probably be in the NFL right now but he quit the team so he could get high more often.

If by "genetic potential" you mean "the courage to inject needles in their ass for many years" then, yes, you are correct.
