Best Anti-Inflammatory?
Just wondering if anybody here has some recommendations as to a really good anti-inflammatory (other than advil etc etc). Over the counter would be optimal.

other than advil? so i'm assuming you want something a little gentler on your stomach? i take ibuprophen when i need immediate relief, but taking a good fish oil everyday will signifigantly help inflamation.

Yeah I was just looking for something non-generic as I've found them not to work that well. I just some temporary relief though, I tweaked my lower back in training a couple nights ago so it's not like it's chronic. Maybe i'll just up the advil dose slightly and see what happens.

Pineapple's supposed to contain some very good anti-inflammatories. I dunno if it's in the juice, but I know a holistic dietician who's yet to stear me wrong recommended it in addition to things like fish and flax oil.
She said it wouldn't be a cure-all, but it'd help more then you might think.

advil doesnt do anything for me. i have to take 800mg of ibuprofen. I hardly ever do, but sometimes i have to in order to get through my day after a hard rolling session or sparring.

Aleve (Naproxen) is what the Drs always tell me to pic up when I have problems with my elbows or knee.
400 mg in the morning and 400 mg at night...
works like a charm for me...(most of the time...and with Ice...lol)

X2 on the naproxen, you can get the generic stuff pretty cheap at your local pharmacy.

I got the ulcer after about 3 weeks. Took each dose with a meal & everything. Hurt like hell.

I know it happens, but don't you have to take a lot over the course of a few years?

I take ibuprofen as needed, not on a daily basis, but at least 1 or 2 days a week on average. No problem with ibuprofen.

well the bottle does say to not take longer than 10 days.................which in all reality, if you're still hurt and having inflammation you should bump up to a prescription grade anti inflammatory after that long......
but some people do take it daily and have no problem......
I took it for about 8-10 days after my hyperextended elbow and that's it and the rest is just to let your body heal....
my 2 cents...

Aleve (Naproxen) has worked wonders for me. It helped after both my dislocated shoulders and it helps with my knees too. I find it much better than ibuprofen, I used to have to take a ton of that to get any relief.

Fish oil is a very good for numerous things. It should be in a standard supp list for everyone. Anti-inflammatory ftw!

This stuff is incredible. I take 8 tabs/day and my tendonitis is much, much more manageable. Kicks inflammation out of your system very very quickly.
Harrow' mentioned pineapple juice--this stuff contains pineapple extract, among many other things.

Cacao seriously helps, its an anti inflammatory, add extra cocoa or nesquick to your protein shakes or whatever. Have extra fish oil caps etc. Then maybe also try some excedrin.
