I wouldn't doubt it.
He's training 30-40 hours per week. Imagine how much energy that requires just to support the activity, not to mention the additional that's needed for recovery.
You got people on this site claiming they eat 3,000 calories per day to lose weight with just an hour of training every day, who wouldn't know the first thing about training for a performance sport because all they know is the BB way just for looks, yet this guy who trains hard for 5-6 (or more) hours per day couldn't possibly eat 10k-12k calories every day? He's burning AT LEAST 6,000 calories just during training alone and if he's spending any amount of time in the pool it's probably way higher than that.
