Pros and Cons of a Steam Room (serious)
Ok i was wondering if the steam room at the YMCA i swim at could be good for me.
Today I lifted then came home and ate. After that I went to the YMCA (my gym has no pool) to swim. After that I was on my way back to the locker room and i noticed that they had a sauna and a steam room right next to each other. No one was in it so i decided to try it out(the steam room). OMFG it was hot as hell but I just kinda chilled on it for about 4-5 minutes.
Bottom line- What is the purpose of the steam room vs Sauna
Also could you guys list some pro and cons for both
Thanks for the help.

You get drunk faster if you drink in a sauna. Pour vodka over the coals, it's a good time.

steam room and sauna are really hot so it increases your BMR. You sweat alot so im guessing its good for your skin some people say you sweat out alot of toxins etc. The steam room helps clear up your sinuses and me personally when my whole body is aching and soar i find that the heat in the steam room helps a bit.

As a good buddy of mine once said pointing at his pre-contest pictures, "See that cascade of mountains there? All Dbol. So I say Dbol. Dbol if you like to f*ck b*tches and cum on tits. Tbol if you don't like any of that."

I like steam rooms a lot more than dry saunas. I guess they are both basically the same though, except a steam room would probably help with your sinuses a lot more.

Steam rooms are really gross to me, but I like a sauna a lot. My YMCA only has a steam room, but the girls lockers have both. In a steam room it seems like you're breathing in whatever the hell is being evaporated into the air, and that could get pretty sketchy in a public area.

I, too, have heard sketchy things about steam rooms. re: bacteria, old men, etc.
I've never tried a steam room or a sauna, but I'd be tempted to try a sauna first.
Both are good for cutting water weight, from what I hear.

i tried both sauna and a steam room. i didnt like the sauna room because it was very hot and when you leave it you smell like baked bread. i liked the steam room its very refreshing and enhances the quality of your hair and skin thats what i noticed.

I love the Sauna.
Steam rooms are supposedly more beneficial but not from when I went in there for a few weeks. Went back to the sauna for a 10 minute post workout rest and never looked back.

I wish my gym had a sauna. I loved the one in my old gym.
