taste buds- freakingme out

My wife thinks it is something to do with all the supps I take but something odd is going on my with body. Lately I have had this foul taste in my mouth and foods also set it off. Even stranger is when I lick my lips my lips and the skin above taste totally rancid. There is no smell or anything oozing or showing- the skin itself taste awful.
On my cheat day I went to the movies with the family and had popcorn and dietcoke- a combo I have had a million times over in my life. About 2 minutes into eating the taste came and the popcorn started to make my gag. I just tried to eat some waffles and the syrup set my taste buds off.
Has anyone had this happen before? Even odder is when I take a drink of water from a cup and go to drink again I can smell the racid odor on the rim of the cup where my mouth was. It is not bad breath and is not just coming out of my mouth but my actual skin and lips around my mouth.
Off to bed now but looking forward to any possible answers.

Oh, a similar thing happened to me about 15 years ago give or take. I got the flu and a week later my taste buds had undergone a radical change. For example, chocolate(even the smell) made me sick. I went from loving it to hating it practically overnight. Every doctor I talked to has had no clue what could have happened.

Its either one of the supps or a combination of them [ 2 or more] - can you post the supps you take and when you take them.

you wouldn't happen to be doing keto would you? or drastically cutting your carbs?

If you've already talked to a doctor and they can't figure it out, I don't think anyone here is really going to be much help.

I would stop all supplements for the time being and restart them one at a time to see if you can pinpoint any of those.

I did some googling and some people with similar symptoms had eaten pine nuts recently.

The only new supps I am taking would be basic cuts and rebound xt

Same thing I was questioning Chodan9. The acidosis related smell and taste is distinct but I don't remember it being so bad that I was nauseated.

Sounds like you might be coming down with something.. My sense of taste always seems to go wacko when something's brewing.

So many things can cause this to happen from an ingredient in a supplement you are taking, the begining of a cold all the way to something neurological such as a migraine. Go back to when you first noticed the change in your tasting then go four weeks farther back and list all the changes in diet, work environement, chemicals used, maybe the janitor is using cleaner ZX now instead of cleaner AB. Another thought is to talk with a dentist, decaying teeth and other oral issues can cause taste issues which can be easily overlooked by an MD.

Have you had your teeth checked?? any cavities??
it is possible that you have a small cavity and some foods like chocolate could cause weird reactions by being absorbed from the cavity..
It can even cause an allergy like reaction even if you are not normally allergic to it
and not only chocolate

I had something similar last year, but with hot foods and drink causing severe salty taste in my mouth. Dentist could figure out anything, but it turned out to be almost certainly related to a virus and disappeared almost as suddenly as it appeared, about 4-6 weeks later.

While I would agree that you should get checked, especially by you dentist, hopefully it will go away on it's own because I doubt anyone will figure out what is going on.

...or the opposite. I get a nauseated feeling and all food drives up the wall when I am bulking...
