Gymnastics Training
Hey guys, so I have been training with weights for about 5 years now and have built some good mass/size. Now that I am in college and no longer play football, I have been mainly focused on bodybuilding with a normal split. My current stats are around:
180 lbs, 12-13% bf
31.75" waist
48" chest
Bench: 230
Squat : 285
Deadlift : 300
I have been looking for a club sport at my college that emphasizes muscle size and lean-ness, and it has been hard to find. At first I tried water polo, but those guys are all pretty small/scrawny. Then I tried the weight lifting club(powerlifting), and those guys were all on the pudgy side (no offense, I just do not want to look like that). Watching the Olympic gymnasts, I was amazed, like everyone else, at the amazing physiques they have. Obviously, I will not look exactly like them, but I am thinking of taking up club gymnastics in place of my weights workouts, for about 2 hours/day, 5 days a week. My goals are:
1) Go under 10% body fat and stay there during college
2) Keep my hard-earned mass, and perhaps add slightly more mass over the next 3 years
3) Develop a new passion and use for my strength. The things gymnasts do are amazing, and I could definitely see myself enjoying competing in the future, so its not just for vanity.
With all this is mind, what do you guys think? Is gymnastics for me?
PS not a lot of beginner workouts online, if anyone has any good links please post
