Vegan Weight gainer?
does such a thing exist? I have allergys to all milk and egg proteins, and i am having a tough time getting more than 2500 cals a day (mainly cause i eat mostly all lean meat and healthy carb sources and not much fat). Im generally against the use of protein powder as it isent absorbed as well as meat and havent used it for some time, but a weight gainer with a vegan protein source and some carbs and fats would really help me i think.
BTW I would rather not make my own and if such a thing dosent exist i will just forget about it lol.
Reps if anybody finds anything! Even a vegan MRP would be nice ^_^
Thanks!

then use the mrp as a weight gainer, or add some more carbs to it. most weight gainers are just protein powders with an assload of carbs anyway.

I think you would be better off making your own in that case
Use like rice or hemp protein and carb sources

Best bet is to build up your own. You can get yourself things like soy/wheat/pea protein, then add in carbohydrates (oatmeal or maltodextrin - depends if you want quality or texture), and some fats (olive oil, peanut butter, etc). Look for products that are labeled as vegan/vegetarian, or otherwise contact the company to inquire.

It's not that bad. But it probably won't be that great, I admit . Look for proteins that already have their flavoring system built in (basic ones - like chocolate), and pick a fat source that has some decent flavor to it already (PB being a good one). That will cover up most unpleasantries from making your own.

I have actully tried making a shake with natural peanut butter once before, and all i could taste and smell was the peanut butter, it was undrinkable >.<
no biggie if i cant make this work, i usually dont have much trouble getting additional cereal with soymilk down for extra calories, but i only eat the healthy kinds and it makes me have WAY more than 35 grams of fiber in my diet per day which produces..unpleasant results lol.
but yea the vegan MRP's have like 200-250 cals and some are crazy expensive cause they have TONS of other stuff in there for true vegans like probiotics and expensive phytochemichals.

What did the shake consist of? if you do it right you can get a chocolate PB that actually tastes decent - and is pretty easy to make. Vanilla-PB also works (as I imagine a lot of things do).

That would do it. You probably need something to thicken the shake up really. If you didn't stir the peanut butter at all, that would make it even worse (you'd just have the oil).

natural PB tends to seperate - with the liquid on the top. Just take a spoon (or anything really) and stir it around, until you mix back in the oil with the PB. I think with the smart balance stuff though, it will not seperate anyways, so you don't need to stir it.
It's pretty distinct - you form this inch thick (or about there) floating layer of what looks like cooking oil. If that forms, it just has to be stirred back into the peanut butter.

I think there are some forms of additives you can use and still classify as 'natural,' skippy might use a secondary fat to prevent the seperation, largely like how the partials were used. Sunflower oil or something like that... I know I've seen it before.

ah yea that i knew but like the non-smart balance brands were like completely liquid lol, they have to be refrigerated to be like the smart balance but that would turn it into a likely difficult to mix blob i imagine.

It's actually not too bad, but once it warms up in the shake it reseperates - that's why it mixes fairly well. Somehow, this thread turned into a 'find a weight gainer' to a conversation about the subtle distinctions between peanut butter, which is kind of weird.
Anyways, give thought to doing a chocolate flavored pea protein (or soy, whatever - pick your poison) with some oatmeal, soy milk, and peanut butter or olive oil (both work well).

yea i knew about that stuff it looks good with the added BCAA's and all, accept i have no idea how it would taste and mix with the carbs and fats. It would be good as a stand alone for TRUE vegans but since i eat tons of chicken and fish there is really no point in a straight protein powder as i need more calories not necessarily more protein.
hmmmmm maybe i could just go with a flavored carb powder....i use WMS post workout and it's great, maybe some like rice or oat powder to drink with my protein meals would do the trick...

that dosent sound to bad especially if i go with the olive oil, i have always read about adding oats but i worry about like it being really grainy and having big chunks of oats and im going to choke to death lol, i dunno if my blender will grind them fine enough.
BTW Tiny thanks for all the help and suggestions reps man! your a good rep for S.A.N ^_^

Buy a small Kitchenmate or similar coffee grinder - one like this:
Put your oatmeal in it, and go... the thing costs about $10, and seconds later you're left with an oatmeal powder. And if there is any leftover coffee in there... oh well, you're having oatmeal coffee shake . Don't 'dry run' your blender though unless you know it can take it. Not having the load at the motor (what is being blended - normally something heavy) can overdraw current and fry the motor.
Oh, and thanks
