Are you guys retarded? Choosing a side is not inany way a declaration of war nor inviting one. We are going to side with Georgia because they are our ALLY. They are the second largest country contributing troops to Iraq not including us, and we deserve to support them in a time like this, at least diplomatically. Also, there is an extremely important pipeline that runs through that country purposely avoiding Iran and Russia. yea you're right. The story is in Georgia theres osettia, and most of the people here still consider themselves russian and have strong ties with russia. Most of the residents have russian passports (russia gives them to all residents) and therefore are russian citizens. So osettia wants to be back with russia, georgia doesn't like this so sends in the military to stop an uprising, killing some citizens in osettia (who remember are russian citizens) so russia responds by defending the pace and taking in refugees
