Ever run outside without shoes?
Anyone ever done this? I got no pairs of running shoes that fit, dont want to spend money on some. Thinking of just running outside without shoes. Nothing long term. Only bad thing i see is that i might step on a "nice" rock. Iv been using my wrestling shoes, but they are too big since they are my friends, and are not at all suited for running.

That could work if you run on a track if you only have grass around and you have a pair of cleats those are great to use. But if you decide to run on grass bear foot maybe tape up your ankles for supports since there is none due to no shoes.

itll strengthen your feet and provide yourself with the most natural running ever... the nike frees are suppossed to replicate that but i dunno if they do, for me it seems barefoot is better... just if u do it better be on a field with no rocks or glass and walk through it too make sure, because it is much easier to get injured and that would set back any gains uve made

yep... get those calluses.. is crazy to just walk out side and not be affected by anything.. my dad is from south america so his feet are literally rocks... one thing is that if you hit something hard on the bridge of your foot while you are running you are screwed... just watch where you are running...

I'm pretty sure it would tear your feet up if you went for any real distance/repeatedly.

Wouldn't advise running barefoot, not only the threat of sharp objects, but also the possibly of acquiring hookworms if your running in grass/dirt.

you will be fine, i used to run cross-country practice with no shoes. (serious) You may need to take into account your foot shape and stride, i tend to run on the ball of my foot.

Barefoot running is good for you. I had heard mention of it in a couple nutrition books I read recently, and I looked up barefoot running online and found lots of groups of people who go barefoot everywhere. For those of us who don't like walking around completely barefoot they recommended Vibram FiveFingers shoes. I got a pair, they're pretty sweet; they simulate walking barefoot(no "support" like normal shoes offer) and still protect the soles of your feet.
Don't tape your ankles, if you want support, walk barefoot and let your feet develop the atrophied muscles you've accumulated through years of wearing conventional shoes. :P I like to walk a few blocks to the middle school near my house and use their clay/dirt/sand track to run barefoot on, and if no one's on the football field I run on that through the grass.
The only thing I'd caution against is doing to much too soon. Don't try to run for too long if you haven't spent much time barefoot. The balls of my feet blistered easily initially(after 15m walk warmup, 30m run, 15m walk cooldown) because my feet weren't used to such a range of motion, and especially if the asphalt is hot. So just give your feet a little time to get used to it and you'll have much stronger feet and ankles in no time and you can say goodbye to ankle injuries.

Track runners do that sometimes because it strengthens your ankles (and shins I believe). I would do it on grass or a football field though not on the track itself.
