Laptops anyone?

I head off to college in a month and I'm looking to buy a laptop. Problem is I have no idea what I should be looking at or what would be considered a good deal.

Right now I have a guy offering to sell me a HP 6910P and it's specs are:
2.4 GHz
14.1" screen
2 GB memory
120 GB HD
Battery life of 5-6 hours
XP software
and a 3 year warranty.

The computer would cost $975.00 and then I'd have to buy the microsoft office programs, the printer, mouse etc.

The only thing the school told me was I would be doing a lot with videos, watching mostly I think. So I was told to get a lot of memory, a large hard drive, and a decent video card.

Is that a good deal? Do you guys think it would be ideal?

The problem I'm having is I'm seeing a lot of other computers for what seems to be cheaper with 3-4 GB memory and larger harddives...

Any suggestions?

Look on eBay for some really, REALLY great deals. My next notebook is going to be a Macbook Pro, and I found one on eBay for $2,000 that would cost me over $3,000 on the Apple Website. eBay has the best deals on everything, you just have to buy from a person with a really, really good feedback when dealing with merchandise that expensive. Make sure it's new too.

He heard one guitar, just blew him away
He saw stars in his eyes, and the very next day
Bought a beat up six string in a secondhand store
Didnt know how to play it, but he knew for sure

That one guitar, felt good in his hands
Didnt take long, to understand
Just one guitar, slung way down low
Was one way ticket, only one way to go

I'm thinking about getting this. Anyone got any opinions? It's for going to uni. Won't really be playing demanding games. Just multiple programs open music playing etc.

sounds ok if you don't mind the tiny screen... spend a bit more and get a dell or macbook
