Clean Eating & Cereal...
I'm talking about "healthy" whole grain cereals, high fiber, no HFCS, other garbage (not like fruit loops/captain crunch/etc..)
I was wondering if when I run out of my current cereal if I should buy a new box or switch exclusively to hot grain cereals. I maybe eat it 1-2x a week - On occassion, I would have cereal post work out.
The current cereal is Kashi Cinna-Raisin Crunch.
What do you think - does cereal = clean eating?

^ 13 grams
I've liked it for ages. 130 calories for one cup, which I think is fantastic. Just make sure that's the portion you're pouring yourself.

I like(d) Go-Lean Crunch but I'm trying to avoid soy protein
I've never seen it at 130 calories/cup - the serving size here is 190 calories/cup.
I don't really need cereal recommendations - I just am curious as people's position on it's role in a clean eating diet.

i think just like everything else, people are going to have their own opinions regarding cereal.
personally, i eat it @ least 3 x a week & have for the last several years.(however, its not any sugar loaded or "garbage" cereals either)

I see no reason why you cannot include a variety of cereals into your diet, especially if you are having the cereal with your first meal of the day.

I like the original Ezekiel cereal. I mix it into my yogurt.

Depends what kind. The Kashi one with the big clusters is 190, the one that looks like sticks and rocks are 140 (I was ten off, sorry).

i love cearel & i dont see this as an issue due 2 the fact i eat 4 morning and sometimes PWO, so those two times of the day is not going to effect your gains, because thats the best time for a gi spike, and it will aid in ur muscle growth. so of course i would not get the most sugarey ones and u will be GOLDEN :-} .

I developed an obsession with shredded wheat - not the kind doused in sugar - the plain kind. At first, I had to force myself to eat it, but now I absolutely love it! It's also a great traveling snack because I can have it plain or with fat free milk. It's become a diet staple!

I like the ezekial cereals. They have no added sugar of any kind and all whole grain. Those are mostly the ones I like, the regular one tastes like grapenuts, which I have always liked. I also really like the almond one though. Ive never personally had the Kashi cereal, but my husband likes it. I plan on trying it after my next show though (he only just bought some about a week ago, and Im 5 weeks out right now). It does have evaporated cane sugar (or something along that line) but not a whole lot. I usually dont like any added sugar, so it probably wouldnt be my own personal first choice for something daily, but maybe here and there. My husband has a little more relaxed 'clean' diet in general though. He'll eat fruity pebbles here and there too on occasion

I choose my cereals by the amount of fibre, lack of sugar, and protein content. Usually I stick to oatmeal, but will have Cheerio's, Oat Bran, and
Special-K High Protein now and then. Keep away from cereals made of corn or with high amounts of added sugar. With my cereal I eat egg whites for protein, or if its off season I will make the cereal with fat free milk and have breakfast soy patties for added protein. I usually eat oat cereal 1-2 times a day (breakfast and supper) or will substitute Ezekiel Bread at supper.

I think that company Optimum (not to be confused with ON) makes a lot of good, whole-grain cereals. They are the "healthy" section at Kroger. You might find some fun choices there.

x2!! Safeway carries this brand in their organic section. Optimum Slim was my favorite pre-work out meal. My only warning is if you eat it one day eat it everyday. These cereals have so much fiber in them you will be super gassy for three - four days while your body adjusts. Then if you skip a day or two you will go right back to being gassy.

I love a bowl of Fiber One (43% fiber) raisan oatmeal clusters...it's pretty damn delish! Oh yeah...and loads of fiber and protein! Been eating it for about 2 months and not adversly effecting any gains or losses. Actually, it really helps keep me regular (sorry for tmi).

If it's not affecting your gains/loss's than have at it; however, be aware that Fiber One products have High Fructose Corn Syrup in them.

Most Kashi cereals can be eating conventionally or mixed in with some oatmeal and heated. Great both ways.

I enjoy cereal from time to time.... Kashi Go lean or any kind of organic cereal/granola.
Most of the time i like to stick to oatmeal or cream of wheat, so i don't use milk. Dairy = makes me bloated!
