*Recovery of an Animal, with the Best - Animal Pak & Animal Flex!!*

    What's going on everyone!!

I'm back again, doing yet another supplement log with Animal Products, but this time it's a bit more meaningful, as I am currently trying to recover.

About 3 weeks ago, I TORE my hamstring. I did it playing baseball. As the story goes.. I hit the ball down the line and tried to stretch a single into a double.
3/4's of the way down the line, I heard a pop and came up limping.

Come to find out, I tore my hamstring, luckily minor and didn't tear it off the bone! Then that would have required surgery!
So, the doc and PT both said that it looks like a 4-6 week recovery period.

This Saturday (8/9) I will finish my 3rd week. I am better! I am off the cane and walking solo.

    So why this log??
Well, as I read soo many reviews of Animal Flex and how SOO many users who use it, experience phenomenal results, I decided to give it a try to help expedite my recovery.
Because of the cane and what not, I was putting a lot of my weight on the right leg. Last Saturday, when I did Ball Squats and Leg Press (light) at PT, I heard SOO MUCH cracking in my right knee and my left knee (the leg of my torn hamstring) is no better.
Therefore, I decided to get FLEX and assist me rectifying that situation and to alleviate some pain in my hip from walking funny.

I JUST started Animal Flex (yesterday), so this is how my log will run.

I will update my feelings nightly on how I feel and the amount of pain/cracking I have within the aforementioned areas (knees, hips and a bit of lower back).

The PT and doc said I could work on my upper body, so I will take advantage of that opportunity, but in a strictly safe manner. I could do free weights, but that requires a lot of stability, so I will take "off" from them (at least some exercises) for a bit. I will primarily do Hammer Strength machines, and other machines to keep my muscles "in shape" and to keep me from going CRAZY!!

I cannot stay in my house or inactive for long. I will seriously go crazy and be grumpy and depressed. Just the way I am. So I will update my log nightly (or every morning) and it will start from, technically, day #2, as yesterday was my first serving of Flex and a new can of Pak.

I will update tonight (or early tomorrow morning) about my day today and how I feel, etc.

I hope you enjoy the log and follow me along my journey to return to back to my 100% Animal!

    Day #2

So yesterday I took my Flex with my lunch meal, as I will be doing for the lifespan of FLEX! And that afternoon I went to PT!

Here is a typical PT session:
    -Ice for 15 mins
    -Bike for 10-15mins
-Leg Exercies to ensure knee is still flexible and quads are still "active"
i.e. Leg Raises, "heel rub", etc.
    -Leg Press Maching - 3x10
    -Seated Leg Curl - 3x10
    -Ball Squats - 3x10
    -Ultrasound on hamstring
    -Massage for 15 mins
-Stretching for 10 mins w/ Physical Therapist

    ...
So today was no different, except for the fact that I felt GREAT and I was able to jump on the elliptical for 5 mins. I felt great, no pain on it and hopefully I can return to it!

Thus far, it's really too early to tell any difference with the FLEX, but I can DEF say that my hamstring feels a lot better! I credit that too proper prevention, stretching and the PT! (again too early to tell with FLEX)

During the Ball squats, I still had some "cracking" with my knees, but a little less. Maybe FLEX?? Hopefully!!

    Animal Pak
    - I have been taking this for a while now and I still receive great energy, mood enhancement and prevention from sicknesses.
-This will be a good week to "test" it out, b/c my co-worker in my office and in my group is sick. Don't know why, but he is and he had to take a couple, unexpected days off. He returned today, with still a little "cold" so we'll see how this spans out!

Tomorrow, I will update on how my workout went today (friday 8/8/08) and how well my PT went.

Stay tuned... I will update in a better fashion too!! I am just a bit tired from staying OT at work to get a report done.

*Recovery of an Animal, with the Best - Animal Pak & Animal Flex!!*

    Day #3 - 8/9/08
    Animal Pak

Another day at work and another day in the log book! I always take my Animal Pak in the morning. I have a can at work, so I take it right after I have my breakfast at my desk.
Another pak ingested and still fighting the "cold" bug that my fellow co-worker has passed along within the vicinity.
It turns out that my brother-in-law is sick as well, and he has been helping us move some furniture within my apartment. (Re-arranging for baby #2 - my baby girl!)
So, I hope those that follow and come across this log will see the benefits of Animal Pak and multivitamins for general well being and "insuring" that all is functioning well and primed for battle in the gym!

    Animal Flex
Yesterday (8/8/08) was my PT session and it went phenomenal!
Today is a gym session and today was where I trained:
    Shouldersr+Arms
    -BB Shoulder Press: warmups, 135x8,7,7
    -DB Hammer Front Raises:25lbsx 10,10,12
    *superset(ss)*
    -DB Lateral Raises: 25lbsx 10,10,12

    -BB Curls: 70x 10,8,8
    -Tricep Pressdown: 75x12,12,12

    -High Cable Bicep Curls: 40lbs x 15,15,15
    *SS*
    -Reverse Grip Pressdown: 40lbs x 15,15 ; 50lbs x 13

POSTworkout thoughts: Felt great! I had high energy and lifting the weights went very well and no problem with any "cracking" or pain within my joints.
So, in regards to FLEX and training, so far really good. I will credit warming up effectively as well, but still...giving credit where it's due.

    Let's keep it rollin'...

    Day #4 - 8/10/08

    Animal Pak

Still going strong with the effects from Animal Pak. I love this multi. The fact that I only take it once and has all the micro-nutrients that I want in it..make it a "staple" for me.
I haven't been in the office for the past 2 days, to give me some "relief" from my co-worker, BUT I am still in contact with my brother-in-law. Again, he has been assisting with our "renovation", so this is still truly a good time to "test" and put to go use this Animal Pak multi.
I have been getting some decent sleep and eating appropriately throughout the week and Animal Pak only enhances the mood and energy that I already have.

    Animal Flex
So today, even during this mini renovation of our apartment, I have been experiencing minimal pain within any of my joints. Not only my knees! Considering I am trying (with caution) to move relatively heavy objects, I have no pain in my elbows, back, or knees, or hips. So far, this FLEX
    has been proven!
I might to go the gym today, even after moving objects within my house, so that will be a big plus! For the past few weeks, I have been going to they gym only 3x a week, so getting an extra session will only make me happy and hopefully will allow me to return to my normal self when i am done with my PT!!

If I go to the gym tonight, I will update my session and my feelings..if not..then..'till tomorrow!

    Day #5 - 8/10/08

    Training - Back + Traps
    -Chest Supported T-Bar Row: warmups, 100x8, 8, 105x6, 90x10
    -Pullups: BW x 7,6,6
    *Superset(SS)*
    -BB Shrugs: 225x12, 245x10,10
    -DB Rows: 85 lbs x 10,8,8
    *ss*
    -DB Shrugs: 100x10,9,9
-Hammer Strength(HS) Lat Pulldown: 70 on each side x 10,8,10

    Animal Pak

Taking it every morning like clockwork,..all the time after breakfast.
Still fighting the cold that my co-worker is bringing along to work everday.
I have decided to stop taking any PREworkout stimulants so I am only taking Storm PREworkout and Beta Alanine. So taking my multi will be that much important to me. B/c Animal Pak has "performance enhaners" and other micronutrients to give me a natural "boost" and energy throughout the day.
Thus far, still going strong, and feeling great!

    Animal Flex
So with today's workout, I felt great. Normally I would feel a bit of pain when doing the DB Rows in particular with my elbows. But today was no pain and felt great. My knees are feeling great and tomorrow I will further test it with PT in the afternoon after work and I think I will hit the gym up for a quick bike session and ab circuit. We shall see, but no cracking of my knees and my hips are feeling fine as well. I am walking a lot better and my hamstring feels great too but I will keep my fingers crossed. I hope to make a full recovery within the next 3 weeks. As the doc and PT both said 4-6 weeks, so I am entering my 4th week, starting tomorrow!

I cannot wait to be 100% back in the game!..

    Day #6 - 8/12/08

There was no training today (8/12/08) b/c I was extremely busy at work and couldn't get an ab training in. Also, I had Physical Therapy in the afternoon. Which I will explain:
    - Ice and stim for 15 mins
    - Bike for 10 mins
    - Elliptical for 5 mins - Both bike and elliptical PAIN FREE!!
    - Leg exercises/stretches for 1/2 hour - 45 mins
    - Leg Press: 11th plate (110lbs)? 3x10 - PAIN FREE!!
    - Seated Leg Curl: 5 plates (50 lbs?) 3x10 - PAIN FREE!!
    - Ball Squats - PAIN FREE
    - Ultrasound for 12-15 mins
    - Soft Tissue Massage - 15 mins

Felt like a brand new man!!

    Animal Pak

As usual taking it every morning after my breakfast and I "feel" it working more than before. Don't know why, but I DEF feel a natural "boost" of energy right after and it feels great.
Reason, I could tell a bit more is b/c I am now cycling off from stimulants of any kind - PREworkout supps, coffee, etc.
My co-workers have been sick and (*knock on wood*) I still have been fighting it and feel no effects of it! GREAT THING! B/c the last thing I want to feel is sick and hurt and therefore, REALLY no gym for me.
But Animal Pak has/is proving to me that it's effective and working as it should.

    Animal Flex
So with no workout, the only thing I could really base FLEX on is my PT session and the bike, elliptical and all the other exercises that I performed.
Starting off with the bike, my knees started "cracking" a bit in the beginning but after 1-2 mins it subsided and no more "cracking." Which is better than before b/c it used to "crack" almost 7-8 mins before it subsided.
On the elliptical, I presume b/c of the bike, there was no cracking or pain anywhere.
On the leg press, leg curl, ther was no "cracking" whatsoever or pain in my knees, hips...NOWHERE. No uncomfortableness. (<-even a word?)
On the ball squats (another knee "cracking" issue & hip issue) there was no pain whatsoever. Again, i will credit the fact that I had a good bike, elliptical, etc. session, but I think that is also partly b/c of the FLEX.
I will DEF give credit to where it's due. Thus far, it's working very effectively and quickly! Loving it!

On a postive note as well! My hamstring is healing up and felt great throughout the PT session. Actually, for my very first stretch (which i normally have issues/tightness with) IT FELT GREAT!! I am hoping this is signs of it healing up and hopefully close to 100%. I will be going to the actual Doctor next week to ensure that it's getting better, get an X-Ray or MRI or what not, to be sure.

I look forward to the upcoming weeks...hopefully I will get back to my "old form" and get back to hitting deads, squats, etc.

Much thanks to those that are following this log/progress!

Man i'm wondering if i should switch when i take Omega and Flex. Right now i take Omega with lunch and Flex with Dinner (which i don't do anything active afterwards). I got that time schedule from the FORVM.

Wonder if i should swap Flex to lunch as i'm pretty active at work, after work at the gym, and after the gym at physical therapy. I don't have pain in my right shoulder anymore when doing presses regardless of weight.

And my knees don't hurt as much doing squats with me up against a ball on the wall, same thing with leg presses. But i gotta squeeze a ball between my knees while doing those exercises to not experience knee pain.

I still get a lot of cracking in my knees when i pivot...eh...have you heard anything about taking Flex at different times of the day as far as making a difference?

    What's good J??
First off - I actually am taking Omega as well and my timing is as such:
    - With Breakfast - PAK
    - Mid-Morning Meal - OMEGA
    - POSTworkout Meal/Lunch - Flex.
..I occassionally forget my OMEGA during my mid morning meal, so I take it right before bed.

With that said, I don't think your timing is wrong/bad. As long as you take the Flex daily and Omega daily, you will see the results/effects of it. I know many users that report "positives" from Flex towards the end of the can..so I would not worry about it TOO much.

You could try switching it up and see how that reacts for your body. Give it a try for a week or two and see/report back as to what happens!
I decided to take it during lunch/postworkout meal b/c i figured it would assist me a bit better for my PT and after my gym workout and so far it's doing pretty well..so again, give it a shot!

It seems that you suffered a severe injury my friend? Mind I ask what it was?

I sprained my ACL, MCL, and PCL back in May of 2007. Rehabbed until September and managed to start working out again, only to blow my knee out in a football game in October. Didn't get arthroscopic knee surgery until Jan 08, and it wasn't until Jun 08 that i'm able to condition again (minus weight training on legs). I went from 151 to 190 pounds during that time and lost a lot of muscle and a gained a lot of stomach fat.

I also found out that from Nov 07 to Jun 08, i've been getting the wrong type of physical therapy. I've been going to a place where they focuse more hands on and getting the pain down and managing people to be able to walk and do NORMAL everyday active.......not COAST GUARD **** or athletic sports movements. So i just recently found a sports therapy that i've switched to. I now have pain in both knees from the weight gain and from when i used to compensate weight to my good knee thats now bad.

This new sports rehab is kicking my ass with a **** load of leg workouts, because i REALLY haven't used my legs since October 07 because the other therapy i went to kept holding me back from weight training to prevent aggrivating my injury. Sucks, but i've been pushing EXTREMELY hard.

Wow bro! That is, for sure, serious. Sucks that you had the "wrong" type of therapy..but as long as you are receiving it now and keep your outlook positive, you will rebound in due time.
No rush, you(we) are still young and have a long life ahead of us to workout, feel great and live strong!

*Recovery of an Animal, with the Best - Animal Pak & Animal Flex!!*

    Day #7 - 8/13/08
A good question arose, couresty of "J.Villa." In regards to timing of supplementation. You can check what his question was in the previous posts and my reply, but I figured I would/should give my overall timing of my supps that I am currently taking. So, here it is:
    - Pak in the morning w/ breakfast
    - Omega with my mid-morning meal
    - Storm PREworkout + Beta Alanine
    - EAA Stack INTRAworkout
    - Flex after my postworkout meal/lunch & protein
    - Casein protein at night (occasionally - depending on what time dinner was)

If any questions, comments on my timing, feel free to say/ask it..and as always, it will be much appreciated!

So yesterday was Wednesday, therefore I trained. I did Chest + Abs
    Chest + Abs Worktout
Incline BB Press: warmups, 185 x 8,7,7+2 (rest pause)
    HS Bench Press*: 75 each side x 9, 85's x 7,6
Cable Crossovers - 2 sets from high and low positions: 2x20 each position.

    Ab work: 3 sets x 20
    -SS-
Incline pushups: 2 sets to failure

*Kicking up DB's is still a bit hard and I don't want to "tweak" anything else, so I stuck with the Hammer Strength Machine as I don't have to "kick" anything up - Hopefully soon, I will return back to my beloved DB's!*

    Animal Pak
As my timing scheme shows, above, I take my Pak in the morning, everday after my breakfast!
It's just clockwork, automatic..whatever you want to call it! haha
Still no cold (*knock on wood*) from my co-workers!
Feeling great every morning and I look forward to taking my Pak.
I said it before, but I have to stress it a bit more...the Pak gives me a natural "boost" in the morning that I need to get going.
Again, I have taken time of stimulants, so I will take any natural energy/"boost" that I can get!
Great energy, fighting colds and mood elevation makes this a multi, like none other in my book. Hence the reason it's a "staple"

    Animal Flex
I did notice a minor thing during my chest workout today. Usually during my warmups, I notice a slight discomfort in my right elbow. I would credit this to my right being my strong side and where I put my most stress on. Anyway, today there was no discomfort AT ALL and my elbows, shoulders, etc. was relatively pain free.
On a positive note, as well, my hamstring is feeling MUCH BETTER!
Today (8/14) my physical therapise and I will be introducing a couple of more exercises, b/c she has been noticing progress as well, as of late!
So I am looking forward to it! I want to hopefully try the lying leg curl and who knows what else she/they throw at me. PT's man, they come up with some interesting exercises.
But another day in the books and another positive outlook on Flex. Which I am sure the benefits/effects will only get better!
I will update as soon as I can with how my PT went, with my knees and hips.

Awesome progress bro! ^as far as the pain. Just to share a story, yesterday, my right knee was killing me all day when i walk. Had therapy, and all the exercises were hurting my knee. Got to the leg press/hack squat machine and increased strength to 175lbs from 140 on monday. But the big news...i squated for the 1st time since my injury! Managed to do 4 sets of 10 with an unloaded 45 lb bar. I almost cried. It was sore walking around though lol. But i think FLEX is really helping me out! along with the therapy

Managed to do 4 sets of 10 with an unloaded 45 lb bar. I almost cried. It was sore walking around though lol. But i think FLEX is really helping me out! along with the therapy
Don't be trying to steal my Thread J!!!!

    haha Joking of course!!

Seriously, I'm extremely happy for you my friend! I am sure it was extremely satisfying to up in weight in the leg press/hack squat and to FINALLY squat! I cannot wait to actually try and squat/deadlift with weight!
I'm also happy that FLEX is finally "kicking in"!! As I said bro: we are young guys, we have a lifetim ahead of us to lift, eat, live, grow, and continue to lift..stay positive my friend!!

If anyone else may have a positive (or negative, w/e)with FLEX then feel free to post it up in here...let's all share our experiences with FLEX!

    Day #8 - 8/14/08

So today, Thursday, no weightlifting but at PT we did some training! Working with my Therapist has been amazing. She knows her stuff, and has been working alongside with since Day 1. So today, b/c I was feeling great on Tuesday, she/we decided to try new things/exercises.

Here is how it went down:
    - Bike 5 mins
    - Elliptical 5 mins
    - Lunges onto a Bosu Ball - 30x each leg - NO PAIN!
    - Standing on the bad (left leg) and catching a ball and throwing it back
    - Ball Wall Squats 3x10 - No pain!
    - Laterals. (Think agility test for football players/in gym class!) - NO PAIN!!
*only lots of sweat b/c I haven't done such a thing since college ball!*
    - Massage for 20 mins
    - Stretching for another 15-20 mins! And new stretches and FELT GREAT!!

I really cannot express my happiness on how good I felt and the fact that I am ALMOST 100%!!
I wasn't sore in the beginning, but as I am currently writing this post, I am beginning to feel it a bit sore, so after this I will go and ice it up a bit.

but again.. this is the way I feel -->

    Animal Pak
Pak with breakfast everday! Like a machine..no questions asked.
And it turns out that the Cold that I was talking about, that my co-worker had/has, has now spreaded along to the others that sit around him. NOT GOOD! But on the bright side, I feel great!
I cannot stress the importance of the Pak and the feeling / the "boost" that I get after taking it.
It's been really "hitting"/"kicking" in this time around..loving it!

    Animal Flex
So I really believe that my knee joints and hips were put to the "test" today b/c it was the first time that I was able to do lunges, laterals and the other exercise where I stand on one foot and catch/throw a ball.
My leg muscles were put to the test and were all turned on! But even after all that, there was no "cracking" in my knees!
OH!, and there was NO "cracking" while riding the bike! First time in about 4 weeks of PT that my knees have not "cracked." FLEX working? I believe so! Taking it everday after my lunch and I truly believe assisting me in preventing knee "cracking" and what not..

..till tomorrow! I will be doing Shoulders + Arms and update appropriately!!

Great job on the recovery and it is great that you didn't rip it from the bone!! I use Animal Pak as well and it is a great multi-vitamin/supplement and stack it with M Stack. The Animal Pak has proven it's worth tremendously and see the results!! I won't use any other multivtamin ever again...like you said it keeps your immune system up as well as givng such a boost in energy!! Never have I had to go against their IRONCLAD Guarantee!! They are superb!!

Great Job Bro...I will definately look into Animal Flex!! And wish to know more about it because of this thread...it probaly would of helped me when I hurt my achilles tendon!! Animal M Stack has helped me with much gains and I love it!!

    What up B!
Thanks for taking time and checking my log, first!
Seondly..The Pak has been DEF "kicking" in this time around. Everything you said about the Pak, I would have to agree with! It's hard to argue with 25 years within this volatile supplement industry, where supps come and go.

M-Stak worked very well for me when I did a can/cycle of it and I will most likely run another cycle of it in the near future.

And FLEX is DEF an investment I would recommend anyone making. Although it only has been 2 weeks, I feel like it is helping tremendously, especially during/after yesterday's PT session.

I will continue to update appropriately and again B, thanks for taking time and reading this log..hope you stay along for the long haul!

*Recovery of an Animal, with the Best - Animal Pak & Animal Flex!!*

    Day #9 - 8/15/08

Today I was went to workout my shoulders + arms. This is how it went down:
    Training
    BB Shoulder Press: warmups, 135x10 (PR!!), 8 ; 145x5 ->drop->135x3
    BB Curl: warmups, 60x3x12
    -SS-
    SkullCrusher: warmups, 60x3x12
    DB Lateral Raise: 25x12 ; 30x10,10
    -SS-
    HS Preacher Curls: 70x12,12
    -SS-
    HS Tricep Dips: 180x 12 ; 230x10

    Pec-Deck Reverse Flye: 100x15, 120x12,12

    Animal Pak
As always, going great! Energy boost is undeniably in full effect. Plus the boost in my immunity is great! My co-workers have been sick and therefore prevention is my best defense. Animal Pak is proving beneficial in this aspect!

    Animal Flex
FLEX is proving MOST BENEFICIAL! As with Chest, my elbows would "crack" in the beginning warmup sets and my first "working" set, but today, again there was no pain!
Plus my hamstring is PAIN FREE!! It is a little sore from the activities I did yesterday at PT. I think this is due to the fact that my lower body was "inactive." But I iced it and it feels a bit better...hopefully tomorrow we will keep incorporating new exercises and keep this progress up!
I will post tomorrow, how my PT session went and how my knees/hips hold up and hopefully don't "crack."

    'Till tomorrow people!
