Women's perspective, do I need a new car...
I know this is a strange shallow question but I thought I would get some opinions. I am newly single (my wife just more or less booted me to the curve) and will be relocating cross country to Dallas to take a new job. My "good" friends are all telling me that I should upgrade cars if I am going to be on the dating scene again. Now I understand that cars are not really that important to the ladies (most anyway) but I thought it would be fun to ask the question.
My current car is older (1995 Mustang Cobra) but it is fun to drive. I will post some pics and am interested to see what you all think...

That is kind of how I feel. I'm 32 and this was the car I always wanted in high school. My friends however think that Mustang is another way of saying "redneck" and that most women will just think I'm a redneck with an old crappy car.
With that said, if a car is the difference between a women liking me or not I have bigger problems than a crappy car! I just thought it would be fun to see what you guys think...

Well, I can't see how a Mustang is redneck. Or maybe I am redneck. It's in great shape. I would think the only way a car would be a factor was if you drove a POS that was never cleaned. Even then, I'd have to think any woman worth getting to know wouldn't care.

Also, my freinds think I'm loaded just because I make more money then they do. I don't understand how people afford such expensive cars anyway. I literally make twice what one of my friends makes and he just bought a $37,000 BMW. He feels I would be better suited with a new G37 Coupe.

I don't know, $37,000 sure seems like a lot to pay for a car and I make over $100K a year. It's not like I'm a tight wad or anything, I am always spending money but I just don't know that I want a $500 - $600 a month car payment.

it can be closer to $400 a month...I totally agree that that's a lot on a car! But if you don't have many other exspenses and youre into cars, than people make the sacrifices. Some spend it on houses, some on cars, some on vacations, its up to the person.
Personally, I would like a sugar daddy so I can spend it on all of the above! lol

Get rid of the light covers and keep the cobra. But buy a decent older truck and put a harley in the back. That's got manly, fun and confident written all over it.

100k a year is a pretty decent salary, its dollars though so probably about 50k english sterling ?.
Its still good though, and there is nothing wrong with your car from looking at the pics.
Put me in your situation and i would probably sell it and move on. Just to start a clean slate. It doesnt have to be a $37k car, but just something new to start a fresh with. You'd have too many memories of your ex in that car i'd imagine.
Would be nice to move on....
What cars do you fancy :P... Shopping time fella .

Funny you said that, those are the pictures from where I bought the car on ebay. The very first thing I did was toss the light covers!
As for the truck and scooter. I am not a bike guy, I grew up on motor cycles but would probably kill myself in like an hour now. The truck on the other hand might be in the cards. I will need a good hauler in a new city and a new house.

Well, I don't really have any memories in this car since I only bought it 6 months ago. I found a great deal on ebay and this was my "guy toy". It will only become my daily driver because the wife is getting the other two. Maybe, I should keep the car and also buy a Jeep or something?

Its your cash and your choice....
Just my opinion is i'd move on. If you had it as a great deal then you may not lose out when you sell it?
Wouldnt hurt to look around anyway, see if you fancy anything. That may change your mind for you then .
I wouldnt buy two cars, if its just you for now. Surely thats just a waste, get a bike instead :P.

Well, I didn't really buy it sight unseen. I bid on the car and didn't reach the reserve. After the auction ended I sent the guy a message asking what his bottom offer would be. We agreed on a price and I drove about three hours to pick it up. However, I have had several friends buy cars off of Ebay with no issues. All of them drove or flew out to see the car before paying. One friend bought a Nissan 350Z and another bought a 1969 Camaro.

Yeah, but it's a '69. That's the best year for a camaro, imo.

Mustang is definately redneck, I've owned a couple myself.
Dude, drive the car you like to drive, period. If you've got to fit a certain look/status to attract a woman then you're looking for the wrong kind of woman.

That was back in my sport bike days. I'm much older and wiser now and moved onto much older and wiser bikes
But seriously, you'll pull more tail with a bike then you ever would with a beamer. No hate, but they did a study and found that more homo's drive BMW's more than any other car. You don't want to be a homo do you? (no hate to BMW drivers).
A bike is like a "pick up line" without having to say a word. Minus the possiblity of being turned down for lameness.

Well, I was going to buy a BMW but I don't want to be a homo... Really though, I would need to see that study to believe it.
Also, I have no doubt that a bike would be a blast. It would be great fun for me and save all the lives of the people who would benefit from my donor organs!
