I dread the day my kids actually figure out that Disney World is an actual place.

Mine took my older son there and have already planned a trip for the little one (it's a last trip before kindergarten starts treat). I didn't go with my older one because I had just had the little one. I may see if I can get out of it with the younger one. It would be way too amusing to sit at home and think of my parents and my brother trying to corral my 2 crazy kids.

Bring a few "qualudes" for the rough times (j/king ) Seriously though...I was planning a trip for me and my daughter this year (postponed till next year). Anyways, one suggestion is to make sure to bring water (it's extremely expensive and if you can bring it..you will save like $4 bottle!
Have fun and nice to see you around here again!

I'd also bring some children's tylenol, cough syrup, allergy meds (in case they need them) and some exedrin migrane for you (you'll definately need this!)
Your probably like, WTF is up with this chick and drugs? My mom always had a bag (on trips) that had everything in it...needle and thread, cough syrup, the cure for cancer, just everything...wish I could be one of those type of moms!

i seriously disliked going to disneyworld, the worse part was the firework show and the electric parade...all of the lobbying for position, pushing and shoving.

haha - my older son HATES fireworks. My mom said when they were there all of a sudden she heard the announcement that they were going to start in like 10 minutes. She said she picked him up and all but ran to the front gate. lol.

I loved it, I took my daughter a few years back. Make sure to have a meal plan in place, it saves a bunch of $$, also as was said earlier, bring your own water.
You need to know going in that it will be hot, busy, and probably test your patience at times. However, watch the kids faces, and it is all worth it imo

Was just there in June. Our approach was to not try and do everything. It is a vacation and meant to be treated as such. We went to 2 of the 4 parks, SeaWorld, spent a day at the ocean (Cocoa Beach) and another day lounging at the pool.
If you try to bite too much off I think it ruins the vacation.

OMG I USED TO WORK IN WALT DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got so many tips for you!
General: Bring lots of money for food and drinks, NEVER LEAVE SHOPPING TO THE LAST MINUTE, YOU'LL ONLY END UP REGRETTING IT! If you're staying at a disney hotel, they can send your merchandise to your room free of charge. Go to guest services at your resort or at the theme park and ask if they can plan your day to get the most out of the trip.
Magic Kingdom: Buy tickets for the pirate/princess party if you can. Go in the afternoon and spend the whole evening there so you can watch the wishes fireworks at night. If you have a daughter, make sure you go to the Emporium store (princess room especially) on Main Street on the hour and your daughter might get selected for a magic moment! Make sure you get on every attraction, lines may look long but enjoy it! Go to Toon Town for Mickey/Minnie autographs.
E.P.C.O.T: Go in the afternoon on the main rides and leave the world showcase to last, so you can watch the fireworks also. Make lunch/dinner reservations at the mexican pavilion.
Animal Kingdom: Wake up early and get there first thing. WATCH LION KING AND FINDING NEMO SHOWS, get there before the shows start to get good seats.
Disney Studios: FANTASMIC NIGHT SHOW!
Other places: There's an ice cream parlor at the Beach Club Resort, go with your whole party and share a KITCHEN SINK, Go to Downtown Disney and do all your shopping there, they have Girradeli's ice cream that is beyond sexual.
This is the busiest time of year, it can be a bit mad, but just enjoy the magic! If you have any questions PM me, i'll be more than happy to help. xx

My dad is a disney nazi...he has an itinerary already printed out...according to him there is a lot of "down time" on it. i was last there at 13 years old, and I fainted! He picked me up, gave me some orange juice, and took me to MGM (true story)!

Oh it's so great to know you're staying at a resort! I'm so excited for you. The Polynesian is BEAUTIFUL. Make sure you have dinner at Ohana's one evening there, the food is just DELICIOUS.
How many days you going for? I miss it so much there, I want to go back and live in Florida one day

Hey Swarovski, what did you do at Disney World? My dream job a few years ago was to be an imagineer Actually I wanted to be Esmeralda, but I've never seen her there and I have no acting experience.
OP: Definitely don't forget the water, camera, and sunscreen. If you are going to ride Space Mountain, be prepared to stand in line for about two hours. It's really awesome though, and eventually you get to stand in air conditioning, and there's cool stuff all over the walls...
If your group is splitting up, make sure you have a plan. That's just common sense though...with everyone else's advice, I think you're good to go
I'm VERY jealous by the way - I absolutely love Disney World.

I was an International College Program cast member, working in the Emporium on Magic Kingdom. It was long hours and hard work but on my days off I got to play in the park! It was so much fun, the best year of my life!

How many days you going for? I miss it so much there, I want to go back and live in Florida one day

i'll be there tuesday to monday. my kids are 6, 5, and 2. so couldn't put them through much more! my 5 year old is WAY into princesses so she's thrilled...
already booked dinner at polynesian and lunch in mexico actually, mexico is my favorite restaurant there...although haven't been down in 10 years...
is it true you have to sign a pretty tight non disclosure to work at disney? a friend of a friend was a princess for a summer and she said they were really stirct about "keeping the magic alive..." seems like it would be an awesome place to work though!

Yeah it was full of things about keeping the magic, i mean if mickey decided to take off his head in the middle of an autograph signing, it would just be horiffic for children! There were lots of rules and regulations, but it all made sense
