Got switched to linebacker this week.
So i got moved to middle linebacker this week. I mean i have never played the position before i got moved from defensive end to it. Its really fun and i like it a lot but i just got to learn all the reads and stuff like that and any tips or advice would be great.

I have probably responded to this before in some other thread. Do a search on my posts and something is likely to come up. If not, shoot me a pm.

Just out curiosity do you know why they switched you?
My son was switched opposite from OLB to DE. He was moved because they have some seniors they want to play at the LB position this year.

Usually its because the coach wants to have the stronger more athletic guys at linebacker than on the defensive line. But usually only if they have someone that could replace them or play the defensive line just as good. You see this alot anyway with defensive ends and linebackers.

usually ur best athletes play lb...
at our school i was playin nose until the 2nd game when i got switched to OLB because we had noone who coudl play that position like i could.
neways
depending on the formation and wat your coaches tell u is what you play off of.
usually the guards unless its an offense that uses alot of trickery, then u watch the fullback.
in a power 1 u watch the fullback most of the time or the guards
the key is fullback and guards in almost every play
if its a spreads formation, key the guards and the RB.
the guards first step tells you whawt the play is
high hats = pass
low hats = run

Well i think cause we don't have a whole lot of depth at linebacker. Plus i think they moved me cause i am pretty quick.

Good Luck man....ive played a little linebacker...and read the guards...they pull....u follow...they step back(Pass Block) u drop back...they step forward(run block) u step forward....and know what everyone on your defense is supposed to do....because then you know when and where you can gamble because u know where you back up is....

trap blocks usually happen on dlineman
the guard/ tackle leaves the 3 technique/dend and gets the linebacker blockin him in
the pullin guard hits the 3tech/dend out
and the rb goes up in the hole
center downblocks on the other technique
tackles get d/ends
etc.
