excellent thread, i have just come off a good cutting phase and got got sucked into goin high carbs when starting rippetoe.

i have gained about 7lb in a week, but also added 1.3" to y waist. not good!

i am gonna go mod carbs (about 150g/day - i weigh about 185lb) and continue cardio to see what happens. A reputable stength coach has told me that the cardio will not affect stength gains, especially as im gonna do things like kettlebell work and bodyweight circuits.

Any1 else here do regular cardio (i need to because am armed forces) - how does it affect your strength gains???
i dont compete against you. i compete against myself yesterday, last week, last year

i did the low carb approach over late winter early spring, i workout within 2 hours after i wake up so i ate about 30carbs.50g protein, then 50 carbs post workout shake. after that only carbs came from veggies and condiments. I lost alot of weight doing this and on saturday i would eat pancakes before workout like 80carbs plus once a week

    Bump for an excellent thread.

I find that my lifts definitely suffer if I dont have pre-workout carbs. Do y'all go so low in carbs as to hit ketosis, or just a lower percentage of carbs overall in comparison to the other macros?

Different for everyone. I cycle my carbs, and right now will go six days hitting as close to zero as possible, then eating like a maniac on day seven.

I can honestly say Low-Carb lifting has been awesome for me thus far. Zero Carbs throughout the week, with one cheat meal on a set day.

Been losing weight and setting PR's. Fantastic ****.

Arlecchino, how much calories did you consume on your low-carb and on your high-carb days?

It's my third week Low-carb. I have one thing to say...

YOU CANT RIDE 2 HORSES WITH ONE ASS.

I'm trying to get strong and lean. After hitting a giant PR for the first week of the diet I felt pretty good. Now being the third week it's just not working for me. My strength isn't where I would like and neither is my energy. Sure I am looking leaner but I'd rather be a strong SOB. My carbs from here on out will just be alot cleaner than usual
