Lactobacillus rhamnosus
So at the advice of my doctor I started taking Culturelle yesterday (10b count), and I appear to be in the percentage of the population that gets intestinal cramping, at least the first few days. On the bright side, I shat once and got everything out upon waking this morning, as opposed to my normal 3-4 times in the span of an hour, so that was nice. But I still have this woozy feeling in my stomach and I'm cramping a little. It's not severe but it's annoying. Does anyone else have experience with this, and how soon can I expect my gut to feel "normal' again?

Never heard of it. Didn't you go through an elimination diet about a year ago when you were having trouble?

Yeah, and I am in fact allergic to peanuts and soy, as multiple tests including blood samples and trial and error proved. Whole grains typically give me gas, refined grains don't. But there was a lot more stuff going on then, at this point I really just have mild IBS and I do what I can for it, I'm not incapacitated or anything. And I think now that my body's finally adjusting to it this probiotic is helping a lot.
Lactobacillus rhamosus is the scientific name for it, but it's on a lot of labels as Lactobacillus GG.

I think the main reason it's prescribed is to increase regularity. For the last 6 months or so I've woken up and shat a good 3-4 times in the first hour, then typically felt blocked up later in the day. Last couple of days it's been once on waking and once in the afternoon. And not to get too graphic, but they've been more "normal" looking as well, and they've come easily but not explosively.

Never heard of it, but hope it pans out well for you. You have so many digestion problems/stomach problems. I would hate that.

Meh, when you stop eating certain things for long enough you stop missing them. Especially when you feel better upon stopping. I can barely remember what pb tastes like.

Culturelle has been super-popular lately at my store...one lady RAVES about it all the time. It's quite irritating actually. But I haven't heard anyone complain of cramping, so hopefully it'll pass pretty quickly?
